From the 1878 report of the "History and Distinct Principles of the United Presbyterian Church of North America" on psalm singing and the youth:

"Is it really true that it really makes no difference what the children sing in the Sabbath School? If the children sing the Psalms, they will at least have nothing, in this respect, to unlearn when they are old. Besides we make a great mistake when we imagine that children cannot understand abstract truth. If it is proper and necessary for them to read the Psalms it is much more our duty to teach them to sing them. What is your own experience? Did the Psalms you sang in your childhood, in the old home make an impression? Did the songs of the sanctuary ever reach your heart? Is there a thrill at their remembrance? Then give the children these same precious songs. Let them feel, when they are learning them, that they are learning to be used in the public services of the church and not be laid aside in a few years, as fit only for children. Then there will be less difficulty to get them to stay for church when the school is dismissed. Then it will not be so rare to hear the children sing."

Evening Service at 5:30pm: Ruth 4:18-21, "Lessons From Our Family Tree"

Wed. Adult Lesson at 6:30pm: On Break For the Summer (Return Aug. 5th)

Some Announcement Reminders:

1) On June 7th in morning and evening worship we will have with us Rev. Dr. Jeff Temple, pastor of Providence Canadian Reformed Church of Hamilton, Ontario. Make plans to be with us as we enjoy his preaching.

2) Thank you to Mr. Sam Tam for playing for us tomorrow morning.

3) The Session is now receiving nominations for the Class of 2029 for Deacons. There are three slots for 2029.

4) Missions and Outreach is on the lookout for a new youth representative. To serve you need to be ages 16-23 and be an active member of Bethany ARP Church.

5) The Missions and Outreach Committee is glad to announce that on Saturday morning, June 13th beginning at 8am in concert with the youth we'll be hosting a Car Wash to help raise funds for the Rwanda church mission. See the details in the insert.

6) Thank you for your prayers for Rev. Glaser's trip to the OPC General Assembly in Pittsburgh, PA. Keep Rev. Glaser and Rev. Temple in prayer as they fly back tonight.

7) Thank you to all those who gave for the Gift Shop at Bonclarken.

8) There will be a survey handed out the next couple of weeks concerning our Wednesday Night activities. Please fill it out and turn in into the basket on the table in the school side wing.

9) The Ladies Circle will meet at 4pm tomorrow. All ladies welcome!

On tbis Memorial Day Bethany ARP Church takes a moment to recognize one of our fallen members.

This year we are highlighting the service and sacrifice of Carl Atkins Whitesides, Killed in Action in World War II.
