Obituary
Nancy E. Barber Dunn, age 82, of York, SC passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at CaroMont Health in Gastonia NC.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 18, 2023, at Lakeview Memorial Gardens located at 1774 Filbert Highway, York, SC with Rev. Adrian Ballard officiating.

Nancy was born on October 23, 1940, in Rock Hill, SC. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence Barber and Madeline Fortner Barber. She was a member of Clover Wesleyan Church in Clover, SC.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Norman E. Dunn, Sr.; her son, Norman E. Dunn, Jr. (Sandy); her grandchildren, Sarah Dunn, Waylon Dunn, Carly Dunn, and Crissy Atkinson, as well as 3 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her children, Nancy Jean Dunn and Phillip Anthony Dunn.

Benny Andrew Moss, also known as Andy or Big A, age 38, of York, SC passed away on Sunday, August 13th, 2023.

The family will receive friends from 5-6 pm on Wednesday, August 16th, 2023 at The Moss Building, 1607 Sutton Springs Rd. in York, SC. The graveside service will begin at 6 pm, Wednesday, at the Moss Building with Rev. Jim Sawyer officiating. The family invites friends to stay after the burial for a catered meal and to share memories of Andy.

Andy was born on June 18th, 1985 in York, SC. He was the son of Joey Neal Moss, Sr. and Patricia Lee Moss and was self-employed as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator.

In addition to his parents, Andy is survived by his sister, Becky Moss (Brandon Phillips), his brother, Joey Moss, Jr. (Amanda); nieces, Zoey Lynn Moss, Alyssa Phillips; and nephews: Zachary Moss, Caidan Moss, Gavin Moss, Aiden Phillips, Brently Phillips, and two additional nephews on their way. Also surviving are his paternal grandparents, Benny and Dot Moss and numerous cousins and friends.

Andy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Sherman and Hazel Lee; his aunt, Margaret Ray, and his uncles, Roy Lee and William “Bill” Faris.

Mrs. Ruth Wilson Clinton Christenbury, 84, of Clover, SC, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at White Oak Manor, York, SC.

Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Greater Life Ministries, 3307 Filbert Highway, Clover, SC with the Rev. Preston Clinton and Rev. Mark Fleming officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the Church. Interment will be in Woodside Cemetery.

Mrs. Christenbury was born August 16, 1938 in Pickens Co., SC to the late Charlie Wilson and Edith Guthrie Parker.

She was the widow of Tommy Clinton. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Faye Shields, Martha Nelson, Evelyn Price, Hazel Giles and Patsy Pendleton, brothers, Charles Wilson and Jimmy Wilson and two grandchildren, Chad Clinton and Ricky Clinton.

Survivors are her husband Ed Christenbury of Gastonia, NC; sons Eddie Clinton (Gayle) of York, SC, Wayne Clinton (Alison) and Keith Clinton (Stephanie) both of Clover, SC; daughter Renee Fleming (Mark) of Travelers Rest, SC; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren with one more on the way; and step-son Eddie Christenbury of Gastonia, NC.

Memorials may be made to Moped to Memphis, for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 1625 Highway 55 E, Clover, SC 29710.

The family would like to thank the staff of White Oak Manor, York, SC for their compassionate care of Ruth.

Obituary
Mrs. Betsy Lynn Grogg Weber, 51, of Clover, SC, formerly, Erie, CO, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023, at Atrium Health, Pineville, NC after a long battle of complications related to CVID.

Mrs. Weber was born February 29, 1972, in Cincinnati, OH, to the late James Royer and Phyllis Sue George Grogg.

She is survived by her husband, Derek Duane Weber, her two daughters, Morgan Gray Weber and Lucy Kate Weber, and her brother, Eric Royer Grogg (Stacy).

Betsy left a positive impact on everyone she met. She chose, no matter her circumstance, to live her life full of joy. Her joy came from her strong relationship with the Lord.

Betsy was a school teacher for most of her career but she mostly enjoyed spending time with her husband, Derek, and two girls, Morgan and Lucy.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, August 21, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., at Rocky Mountain Christian Church, 9447 Niwot Road, Longmont, CO.

Ms. Sheila Ann Biggers, 65, of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House, Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Ms. Biggers was born February 26, 1958, in York, South Carolina to the late Bill Jackson and Mary Sue Bratton Biggers.

She is survived by her sister, Charlene Johnston (Bill), Lake Wylie, SC; her brothers, Jimmy Mac Biggers, Blacksburg, SC, and Wayne Edward Crowder (Thelma), York, SC; and her nephew, Steven Tyler Benfield, Blacksburg, SC.

She is preceded in death by her brothers Howard Dean Crowder, William (Jack) Jackson Biggers, Johnny Ray Biggers, and her sister Mary Lou Biggers Robichaud.

Mr. Thomas Eugene Morrow, 84, of Clover, SC, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023, surrounded by his family at Lake Wylie Assisted Living, Lake Wylie, SC.

A celebration of life service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 14, 2023, at M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, 209 N. Main Street, Clover, SC. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Interment will be in Woodside Cemetery, Clover, SC.

Mr. Morrow was born May 30, 1939, in Clover, SC, to the late Thomas A. and Maggie Lawson Morrow. He served in the U. S. Army and the SC Army National Guard. He retired from the NC Air National Guard of Charlotte, where he served from November 1974 to November 1994 as a Master Sergeant with the Special Purpose Vehicle and Equipment Craftsman in the 145 Logistics Squadron. He was a retired diesel mechanic with Carolina Freight in Cherryville, NC. He was a long-time member of the Alpine Masonic Lodge in Clover.

He enjoyed working on cars, trucks, lawn mowers, and anything else with a motor. He and Mrs. Morrow loved going to flea markets and thrift stores to shop for bargains.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Pauline M. Gilfillan, Mary M. Burdette, and Ruth M. Brooks.

Survivors are his wife of 60 years, Virginia Price Morrow; daughters Nancy M. Scroggs (William) of Gastonia, NC, and Linda M. Pendleton (David) of Clover, SC; grandchildren April Davis (Lee), Brandy Scroggs, Marc Scroggs, Truett Pendleton, and Bailey Pendleton; great grandchildren Nicholas Davis, Liam Davis, and Kaelyn Scroggs; and half-brother Frank Morrow.

Obituary
Jeff Walker, 77, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Saturday, August 5, 2023, with his wife Linda by his side.

He was born Thomas Jefferson Walker, Jr. on August 18, 1945. A lifelong resident of Clover, Jeff loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed the lakes and rivers of the Piedmont, particularly the Catawba River and its tributaries. He also loved exploring the unique geographical features of state and national parks. Jeff and Linda travelled to many national parks in this country and vacationed abroad. He was a lifelong gardener and was famous for his delicious tomatoes. Jeff loved music and sang tenor in several local choirs. He played trumpet and tuba in the Clover High School band, and loved marches, symphonic works, and Appalachian music. Jeff’s professional career encompassed mechanical and architectural design, and he especially enjoyed drawing house plans. As chairman of the building committee at First Baptist Church of Clover, he designed the Christian Outreach and Activity Center.

Jeff is predeceased by his parents Ruth and Tom Walker, and brother David Walker. He survived by his wife Linda of 54 years; his siblings Terry (Guy) Dancy, Louise Walker, and Johnny Walker; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Clover on Saturday, August 12th . Doors will be open at 10:15 AM for the 11:00 AM service. Burial immediately following the service at Lakeview Memory Gardens in Filbert, SC. Visitors are welcome to pay respects at the home.

Special thanks go to the church family of First Baptist Church Clover for prayerful support during Jeff’s long illness and to Hospice and Community Care of Rock Hill, SC for their loving care and kindness.

Ms. Lee Boyd Jordan, age 68 of York, SC passed away on Monday, July 24th, 2023.

Lee was born on November 18th, 1954 in Gastonia, NC. She was the daughter of the late William Lee Boyd and Harriette Lowry Boyd and was the widow of Jord H. Jordan, III. Lee graduated with her Bachelors Degree from the University of South Carolina and received her Masters Degree from Winthrop College. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in York, SC.

Lee is survived by her son, Jord H. Jordan, IV; her grandson Jord H. Jordan, V; and her brother Bill Boyd (Robyn).

In memory of Lee Jordan, memorials may be made to Hospice and Community Care, PO Box 993 Rock Hill, SC 29731.

All services will be held privately.

Ms. Sherry Childers Pressley, age 68 of York, SC passed away on Tuesday, July 25th, 2023 at her home in York.

Sherry was born on November 16th, 1954 in York, SC. She was the daughter of the late M.C. Montgomery and Betty Robinson Montgomery. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Lake Wylie.

Sherry is survived by her loving husband, Billy Joe Pressley, her children, Dori Smith (Todd), Richelle Morgan (Dwight), her siblings, Monica George, Morgan Montgomery, Jr. “Mack” (Rhyne), Andy Montgomery (Chikaka), and Mark Montgomery (George) and well as her grandchildren, Gage Yukob (Carson), Kailee Brandon (Dakota), and Viklynne Morgan. Sherry has one great grandson on the way Brewer James Yukob. She was also survived by her sister in love, Bobbie Langley, and brother in love, Bobby Holcombe.

In addition to her parents, Sherry was preceded in death by her son, Joey Pressley, and her brother, Bub Childers.

Mr. Ballard Alexander Spears, age 73, of York, SC passed away on Tuesday, July 25th, 2023.

Ballard was born on February 1st, 1950 in Rock Hill, SC. He was the son of the late John Alexander Spears and Susan Blackwood Spears. He is survived by his sister, Florene “Flo” Ferrell and several nieces, and a nephew.

In addition to his parents, Ballard was preceded in death by his sisters, Edith Couck, Mary Martha Pruitt, Minnie Elizabeth Spears; and her brother, Robert Nathan Spears.

Ballard’s favorite thing to do was enjoy a good home cooked meal with family and friends. He loved to go fishing and he loved all animals. He attended Bethel Baptist Church in Lake Wylie for many years before moving to White Oak Manor in 2020.

Mr. George William Knight, IV, 70, of Clover, SC, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill, SC.

Services will be private.

Mr. Knight was born June 2, 1953, in Charlotte, NC to the late George William Knight, III and Virginia Sergeant Knight. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Vann M. Knight.

Survivors are his son Joshua William Knight (Alyssa) of Houston, TX; sisters Lisa D. Knight of Webster Groves, MO, Margaret K. Clifford (Ron) of West Plains, MO, and Jennie C. K. Rotherham (Simon) of Lake Wylie, SC; and brother Hugh T. Knight (Trish) of Charlotte, NC.

He was a loving father with a passion for sailing, the outdoors and Formula 1 racing. “It’s not how long you live, but how many lives you touch.” Dad, your guiding hand on my shoulder will remain with me forever.

Mr. Charles Roderick Fraser, 73, of York, South Carolina, passed away Monday, July 24, 2023, at Atrium Health, Charlotte, North Carolina.

He was born May 31, 1950, in McMinnville, OR, to the late Charles William and Mary Chisholm Fraser. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Archibald Fraser.

Mr. Fraser is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Lee Farr Fraser; his son, Jeremy Fraser (his wife, Jennifer), his daughter, Tara Fraser, Hollywood, CA; his son, Ryan Fraser, Woodland Hills, CA; and his grandchildren, Tyler Fraser and Riley Fraser.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 250 Alexander Love Hwy., York, SC.

Mr. Fraser was a minister who devoted his life to serving his God, Jehovah. This was his primary vocation. He supported his family by working in the printing industry as a graphic artist for many years. He loved the ocean and the Redwood forests, where he grew up. He also loved riding motorcycles and spending time with family and friends.
