What an incredible back-to-school weekend we had - thanks to everyone who came out to make it such a meaningful time! On Saturday, over 320 people came to get backpacks with school supplies and connect with community partners. A special thank-you to Luisa’s Hair Salon for partnering with us to give away free haircuts for every child who received a backpack! Then on Sunday, we blessed the backpacks of our students during service, and then had a delicious brunch with old and new friends. We love our neighborhood, and are so proud to boldly live out the message: YOU BELONG!
A special thank you to mayor Bruce Rector for coming out to support, and to Daniel Cura for the capturing our event on Saturday with such awesome photos! We have the best community partners!

Have you ever wondered why the Bible is so revered in the church? Or why its makeup varies amongst Christian traditions? Are there passages in the Scriptures that fascinate you...as well as those that leave you confused?

If you've answered "yes" to any of these questions, you are certainly not alone! Join us starting this Sunday (August 16th), as we begin a 6-week sermon series called "The Word," in which we will take a deep dive into all things Bible. The series is based heavily on Adam Hamilton's book, "Making Sense of the Bible." We'll learn about it's contents and the history of it's formation, along with some passages that confusing as well as others that are downright troubling. Hopefully, we'll not only rediscover the power that it holds for us as followers of Jesus Christ, but also recapture a love for this book that has sustained countless others on their journeys of faith!

We'll also have a Sunday morning small group that will go deeper in our discussion of the Bible. The small group will be discussing Adam Hamilton's book, "Making Sense of the Bible." You are invited to be a part of this group - no prior Biblical knowledge needed!

Join us for our 2nd annual back-to-school community block party and backpack giveaway on Saturday, August 8th. We are located at Skycrest United Methodist Church (corner of Nimbus and Drew). There will be food vendors, local resources, community partners, and free backpacks with school supplies. This year, we also have a special gift that will help your child look their best as they head back to school! Backpacks will be one per child, while supplies last. Then on Sunday morning, join us at 10am as we have a backpack blessing during worship service.
