Just hours before His arrest and crucifixion, Jesus prayed a powerful prayer for His disciples—and for all who would believe in Him.

In John 17, we see three life-changing truths:

✨ Joy in the Middle of Trials
Even with the cross before Him, Jesus prayed with joy and desired that His followers would experience that same joy. True joy is found not in our circumstances, but in Christ.

🛡️ Protection in a Hostile World
Jesus didn't pray for His followers to be removed from the world. Instead, He prayed that God would protect them from the evil one as they faithfully live out their mission.

📖 Sanctified by Truth
Jesus prayed, “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth” (John 17:17). As we spend time in God's Word, He shapes us, strengthens us, and sets us apart for His purposes.

Jesus’ prayer reminds us that we are called to live with joy, stand firm in truth, and shine brightly in a world that desperately needs hope.

Welcome back to Truth Worth Living, where we seek to understand God’s word so we can live in God’s will.

Lately, we’ve been studying prayer—not just how Jesus taught it, but how He actually did it. In John 17, hours before His betrayal and crucifixion, Jesus offered His High Priestly prayer. He prayed for three things: Himself, His disciples, and us.

Today, we’re diving into Part 1 of His prayer for the disciples (John 17:6-12).

Here are two major takeaways from how Jesus prayed for those entrusted to Him:

1️⃣ Jesus as the Perfect Steward 🤝
When Jesus says, "I pray for them... for they are yours" (v. 9), it reveals His incredible mindset. He viewed His disciples as a precious gift from God that required excellent stewardship.

Just like a household steward in ancient times who managed the master’s entire estate, business, and servants, Jesus took full responsibility for the men in His care. He ensured they were:

Taught the absolute truth about God.

Trained and equipped to carry on the mission.

Protected and kept safe.

2️⃣ A Clear Distinction ⚡
Jesus explicitly states, "I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me." This isn't cold indifference—He literally gave His life for the world! But it does shatter a popular modern heresy: the idea that everyone is automatically saved and there is no difference between a believer and an unbeliever.

Jesus clearly separates those who receive Him by faith from those who reject Him. As a good steward, He presents His faithful followers to the Father, destined for life with God, while those who turn away are left to destruction.

The Bottom Line: Because Jesus was—and is—the perfect steward of His mission, those who believe in Him are completely saved, intentionally trained, and fiercely protected by Him.

That is a truth worth trusting, and absolutely a Truth Worth Living. 🙌

☘️ Day 2 at Emerald Crossing VBS was pure gold at the end of the rainbow! 🌈

Another incredible night filled with laughter, worship, games, and life-changing truths from God's Word. It has been amazing to see kids engaged, friendships growing, and hearts learning to trust the Good Shepherd.

God is doing great things at Emerald Crossing, and we are grateful for every volunteer, family, and child who is part of this journey. One more night to go—we can't wait to see what God has in store!

☘️ What a shamrockin’ start to Emerald Crossing VBS! ☘️

Our first night was a huge hit! From laughter and games to worship and Bible lessons, we saw God moving in incredible ways all across campus. It was a joy to watch kids grow in their faith, build new friendships, and have an absolute blast along the way!

We can’t wait to see what the Good Shepherd has in store for the rest of the week.

📖 The High Priestly Prayer: A Lesson in Glory and Prayer

In John 17, Jesus offers one of the most powerful prayers recorded in Scripture. Just before heading to the cross, He prays for Himself, His disciples, and all future believers—including us.

One word stands out throughout this prayer: glory.

What is God's glory? It's the visible expression of His goodness, holiness, power, and love. When Jesus prayed, "Father, glorify me," He wasn't seeking personal recognition. He was asking that God's character be revealed through His death and resurrection so that the world would know the Father.

This prayer teaches us an important truth about our own prayer lives: when our desires align with God's glory, our prayers align with God's will.

Before we pray, it's worth asking:
👉 Am I seeking God's glory or my own?
👉 Will this request help point others to Christ?
👉 Does this reflect God's purposes?

Jesus lived for the Father's glory, and His prayer reminds us to do the same.

May we be people who pray, live, serve, and love in ways that bring glory to God.
