The past week was filled with many events across the west.

Dear Friends,

Late Friday evening, around midnight, Brother John Alvies was driving home from the Butte County Fairgrounds in Gridley in his police unit. You may know that he is a Sergeant with the Paradise Police Dept. He had been assigned to a security detail at the Butte Co. Fair.

Following his assigned shift, Brother Alvies proceded northbound on Hwy 99, heading back to Paradise. At Rio Benito Rd. another driver ran the stop sign, and his vehicle collided with John's police cruiser at a high rate of speed.

Brother Alvies suffered significant injuries as a result of the collision. He was transported to Rideout Hospital in Marysville, where his injuries were assessed, and he was taken into surgery.

Following the surgery at Rideout, John was flown by helicopter to U.C. Davis in Sacramento, where he will undergo additional surgeries and treatment.

We are requesting prayers on behalf of John as he faces these difficult surgeries and a very long road to recovery.

John is the person President Nelson spoke about in the April 2019 General Conference. Here's a YouTube link to that talk:
