In between the waves of rain today, we shared in our annual Blessing of the Animals. We gave thanks for Cashew, Eli, Harry, Dobby, Bullet, Snickers, Cloud, Keiki, Pica, Stasha, Merlin and Petey, as well as shared a moment in remembrance of the pets no longer in our lives.

Join us tomorrow at 11 a.m. for our annual Blessing of the Animals. Bring your pet(s) (or a photo of them) and join us outside for a worship service where we celebrate all that pets bring to our lives. Whether your buddy is a dog, turtle, cat, or another of God's creations, this is a time to honor them and share what they bring to our lives.

There's an article in today's Chicago Sun-Times newspaper (page 9) about the life of Earle Johnson.

Mr. Johnson, with his unique menu of suds, was decades ahead of the microbrew craze.

A few details for those of you planning to attend or watch the memorial service for Earle Johnson tomorrow (Saturday, Aug. 15). If you are coming in person, our address is 333 W. Wisconsin Street, Chicago. Another option is to join us remotely for Earle's memorial service via a Facebook live stream from Earle's page. The celebration of life service will be starting at noon Central, and that is when the livestream is planned to begin.

The in-person schedule:

10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Visitation

12:00 p.m. Celebration of Life Service

At the conclusion of the service, guests are invited to stay for a light lunch and memory sharing.

Public Transportation and Parking

The church is easily accessed by buses: #151 (Stockton & Lincoln stop), #36 and #22 (Wisconsin stop), or by taking the Brown line train to the Sedgwick stop and walking north to Wisconsin St.

Parking, although limited, will be available on Wisconsin St. between Sedgwick St. and Lincoln Ave., and on the first half-block of Orleans St. off of Wisconsin St.

Note that this weekend's Air and Water Show may result in more traffic and less parking than normal in the area - please plan your departure time accordingly.
