How can we honor our past while being honest about our wounds? That question sits at the center of our latest Companion review of 'We Mend with Gold' by Kristin T. Lee — a deeply personal account of her roots in an immigrant church, the crumbling of her spiritual foundation, and its eventual restoration. Lee compares her own journey to kintsugi, the Japanese art of mending broken pottery with gold rather than hiding the break.

It's the same image behind Take Heart, the theme of Unite 2027. Kintsugi embodies a theology of healing. When a pot is broken, cracks are mended with gold. The brokenness becomes beautiful.
