The Evangelical Covenant Church mourns the passing of Rev. Dr. Paul E. Larsen, our seventh president, who died peacefully on May 26, 2026, in La Quinta, California. He was 92.

Paul served as president from 1986 to 1998 — three terms that left a deep and lasting mark on the Covenant Church. He championed multiethnic ministry, accelerated church planting, and helped shape the Covenant's enduring commitment to justice and reconciliation. His organizing conviction: "God wants lost people found and hurting people helped."

A graveside committal service will be held Monday, June 29, at 9:30 a.m. (PT) at Forest Lawn Mortuary in Cathedral City, California. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. (PT) at Mission Hills Covenant Church in Rancho Mirage, California. It will be livestreamed here >> https://www.youtube.com//streams

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Forest Lawn Mortuary.
