If pearls were worn in Jesus' day, they were certainly clutched when Jesus told Matthew, a tax collector [!], "Follow me." Controversies escalated as Jesus went to Matthew's house and ate dinner with other tax collectors and "sinners," and then there was that woman who came up and touched his cloak! What were the good people of Jesus' day supposed to think?

We'll revisit these scandals and more in Bible study Thursday, June 4, at 10 a.m. at Oaklette, when our text is Matthew 9:9-13, 18-26. Please join us, and please see the first link below to read this scripture and others for the week.

Please see the second link below to participate via Zoom if you'd like, and please keep Oaklette and its mission of making the Gospel of Jesus Christ real for all people through worship, education, and outreach in your prayers.

"Each little flower that opens,
each little bird that sings,
God made their glowing colors,
and made their tiny wings." ๐ŸŽถ

"All Things Bright and Beautiful" (no. 147 in The United Methodist Hymnal) was written by Cecil Frances Alexander, an Irish writer, in 1848. It notes the work of God's creation in both the majestic--like "purple-headed mountains--and the minute--like an open flower. It invites in us an awareness of God's work around us.

๐ŸŽต "God gave us eyes to see them,
and lips that we might tell
how great is God Almighty,
who has made all things well."

๐Ÿ’ญ Where are you noticing God's good works today?
