Maintain the Difference
“Thus I will put a division between my people and your people. Tomorrow this sign shall happen.” (Exodus 8:23, ESV)

When God brought judgment upon Egypt, He made a distinction between His people and Pharaoh's people. That historical event reminds us of an even greater spiritual distinction today. Those who belong to Jesus Christ have been forgiven, delivered from condemnation, and set apart for God. Though believers still face trials and difficulties, they possess the peace, promises, and eternal hope found only in Christ.

God has made us different by His grace, and our lives should reflect that difference. Our attitudes, priorities, relationships, and conduct should demonstrate that we belong to Him. This is not a reason for spiritual pride, but an opportunity for grateful obedience and faithful witness. God has set us apart for Himself; let us live as those who belong to Him!

Sins of Ignorance
“And the priest shall make atonement for all the congregation of the people of Israel, and they shall be forgiven, because it was a mistake.” (Numbers 15:25, ESV)
How many times have we sinned without even realizing it? We may sincerely believe we are doing what pleases God, yet our actions or neglected responsibilities may fall short of His perfect standard. God's knowledge of our sin is complete, even when our awareness is not. This should humble us, but it should also remind us of the greatness of His grace.

The wonderful news of the gospel is that Christ's sacrifice is sufficient to cleanse believers from every sin, including those we have failed to recognize. Our forgiveness rests not upon our ability to remember and confess every failure, but upon the finished work of Jesus Christ. What a reason to pursue holiness with humility and rejoice in the assurance of God's forgiveness!

The Christian life was never meant to be lived alone. When Christ redeems us, He brings us into fellowship with Himself and with His people. Baptism publicly identifies us with Christ, but it also points us toward a life of faithful participation in His church. Hebrews 10:24–25 reminds us to encourage one another toward love and good works and not to neglect gathering together. God designed the local church to be a place where believers grow in grace, receive biblical instruction, and strengthen one another in the faith.

Church membership involves far more than attending services or having our names on a membership roll. It means committing ourselves to worship, serve, encourage, and care for fellow believers. The church is not a gathering of perfect people but a fellowship of redeemed sinners growing together in grace. Christ did not save us to live independently of His people. Those who belong to Christ are called to walk faithfully with His church.

His Service, Face, Name

“His servants will worship him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.” (Revelation 22:3–4, ESV)

What makes heaven glorious? Above everything else, it is the presence of Jesus Christ! God promises His redeemed people three wonderful blessings: perfect service, unhindered fellowship, and everlasting belonging. We will serve our Savior without weariness or sin, behold His face without separation, and rejoice forever in knowing that we belong to Him.

These promises should transform how we live today. Though our service is imperfect and our faith sometimes weak, a glorious future awaits every believer. One day, we will serve Christ without sin, see Him without separation, and belong to Him without end. Until then, let us serve Him faithfully, walk closely with Him, and eagerly anticipate the day when faith becomes sight!

Every loving father wants what is best for his children. His instructions are not intended to rob them of joy but to protect them from harm. In the same way, God's commands are expressions of His goodness. They direct us away from the destructive consequences of sin and toward a life governed by His wisdom. Yet our fallen nature continually tempts us to believe that we know better than God. We listen to our desires, trust our experiences, and follow the wisdom of the world rather than the truth of His Word.

Solomon reminds us that genuine faith means more than believing God's Word is true. It means trusting that God's ways are always best. To acknowledge Him in all our ways is to submit every area of life to His authority. His promise to make our paths straight does not guarantee an easy road, but it assures us that His wisdom will never lead us astray. Jesus Christ, the wisdom of God, perfectly trusted and obeyed His Father and provides salvation for those who have wandered from His ways.

Consider this question today: Where are you leaning upon your own understanding instead of trusting God's Word? The safest path is not always the easiest, but it is always the one directed by the Lord.

Because of Us

“And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.” (Matthew 24:22, ESV)

God's sovereign care for His people never fails. Even during times of great tribulation, He governs every circumstance according to His perfect purposes. What a privilege to belong to the Lord and to know that He hears the prayers of His children! He graciously uses His people to bring blessing to others as they pray for the lost, intercede for their communities, and proclaim the gospel.

When we see suffering, wickedness, and unbelief increasing around us, our response should not be despair but prayer. Let us plead for God's mercy, faithfully share the hope of Christ, and eagerly anticipate His glorious return. Our God reigns, and His kingdom will prevail!

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” — Matthew 6:33 (ESV)

The Bible begins with these words: “In the beginning, God.” Our lives should reflect that same priority. Jesus calls us to seek first God's kingdom and His righteousness, placing His will above every earthly concern. When God occupies His rightful place in our hearts, everything else finds its proper perspective.

Jesus gives this promise while teaching about anxiety over food, clothing, and daily necessities. Our heavenly Father knows what we need and faithfully cares for His children. This does not promise wealth or freedom from hardship, but it assures us that we can trust His wisdom and provision.

What freedom comes from placing God first! We can work diligently, fulfill our responsibilities, and plan wisely without allowing anxiety to govern our lives. Our greatest treasure is not found in what we possess but in belonging to Jesus Christ. Seek His kingdom, trust His promises, and leave tomorrow in His faithful hands.

Heavenly Father, forgive us when earthly concerns take priority over You. Teach us to seek Your kingdom first, trust Your provision, and find our greatest satisfaction in Christ. Deliver us from anxiety and help us live each day for Your glory. Amen.

Who is Jesus Christ, and why does His identity matter for our salvation?

In Romans 1:3–4, Paul brings us to the very heart of the gospel: God's eternal Son, who came as David's promised descendant and rose from the dead in power.

This Sunday, October 25, we continue our series, The Gospel of God, considering three wonderful truths about Jesus Christ:

1. The Promised King who came to fulfill God's promises.

2. The Powerful King who conquered death and rose in victory.

3. The Preeminent King who reigns as Jesus Christ our Lord.

The resurrection did not make Jesus the Son of God. He is the eternal Son who became man, died for sinners, and rose to reign in power.

His resurrection assures us that death has been defeated, His promises are certain, and those who belong to Him have an everlasting hope.

“They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail over you, for I am with you to save you and deliver you, declares the LORD.” — Jeremiah 15:20 (ESV)

Faithfulness to God requires courage, especially when His truth is opposed. The Lord promised Jeremiah that He would make him like a fortified wall of bronze, able to withstand the attacks of those who resisted his message. His strength would not come from personal determination but from the sustaining power of God.

The church today needs believers who stand firmly upon Scripture, especially those entrusted with preaching and teaching. True spiritual stability involves more than knowing sound doctrine. We must also display the humility, holiness, and love that God's grace produces. Conviction without godliness becomes harshness, while a desire for acceptance without conviction leads to compromise.

The foundation of Jeremiah's confidence was God's promise: “I am with you.” Though spoken specifically to the prophet, these words remind us that faithfulness depends upon the Lord's sustaining grace. We need not surrender biblical truth to gain approval, nor should we trust in our own strength. Christ is faithful to preserve His people.

Heavenly Father, establish our hearts in Your truth. Give us courage to stand firm, humility to walk in grace, and strength to persevere through opposition. Preserve Your church from error and keep us faithful to Your Word. Amen.
