In the Sacrament of Reconciliation, we humbly acknowledge our sins, receive God’s mercy, and are strengthened to forgive others and seek healing in our relationships.

Newman Night is more than just a dinner. It is an opportunity to gather together and invest in the future of our ministry and students at EIU!

Your support forms today's students into tomorrow's Saints & Scholars. Whether it is through Bible studies, retreats, discipleship groups, meals eaten together, fellowship at events, or intentional relationships, the hearts and souls of students are being transformed!

(re)Introducing.... Fr. Michael! He is our Director & Chaplain of the Newman Center and Pastor of St. Charles Parish!

Get to know more about him:

What saint would you want to sit next to on a plane? St. Charles Borromeo! He was so all in to his ministry as a bishop and cardinal. I would love to pick his brain on how he combined his great administrative skills with his dedication to the interior life.

Favorite Bible verse? At this moment, it is Psalm 16: “The lot marked out for me is my delight: welcome indeed the heritage that falls to me.” What God has given us (our “lot”) is the little piece of “land” that God has asked us to care for. Holiness is so often found in doing your daily duties excellently. No more no less.

Favorite Newman event/memory? The outdoor Sunday Mass we had! We were set up in front of Newman. I remember hearing the words of the Mass bouncing off the buildings across street. How cool to literally proclaim the Gospel to campus and hear the echo of it back!

What is a secular song you think has deep spiritual meaning? Ready to Lose by Ingrid Michaelson. I’m sure she’s talking about a lover, but change the subject to God. One lyric goes like this: "Tell me that you’re mine - say it one more time - I’m ready to lose - everything but you."

What did you want to be when you were growing up? I wanted to be a marine biologist because I liked sharks and wanted to look at them underwater.

Go to coffee order? Starbucks Pike Place roast drip coffee with 1/2 inch of cream and two packets of raw sugar.
