✨ Alumni Spotlight: Luke & Leslie Hearn ✨

Meet Luke and Leslie (Gladu) Hearn, both graduates of EIU's Class of 2018 who now call Charleston home. Their time at CCH helped shape not only their faith but also the way they approach community, service, and life after college.

When reflecting on their favorite part of CCH, both Luke and Leslie both agree that the community CCH is something amazing. Luke shares “I wish I could have the community and amount of people in a similar walk of life, all living in the same town," and Leslie agrees.
----
During his time at CCH, Luke served as a small group leader, while Leslie faithfully invested in others through friendship and encouragement.
----
When asked about their biggest take away from their time at CCH Luke remembers realizing for the first time that God is present in every area of life, not just at church. Leslie's biggest takeaway was the importance of being involved in a healthy church community, pursuing personal faith, and welcoming people from all walks of life.
----
When asked why students should attend CCH, Luke described it as "a living laboratory" then explains, "There's no formula, there's no prescription, just people who believe in Jesus.” Leslie added that CCH is one of the best places to grow closer to the Lord, build lasting friendships, and find a strong support system during the college years.
----
Their advice for current and future students?
Luke encourages students to discover how God has uniquely gifted them to serve within the body of Christ saying “Try to figure out where you fit best within the body of Christ: are you a leader, are you a behind the scenes worker, are you a prayer? There is a role for everyone.”
Leslie follows up by stating “going to CCH is one of the easiest and best decisions you will make!! You don’t have to be on ‘leadership’ to make a difference or make lifelong relationships.”
----
Thank you, Luke and Leslie, for this week's spotlight and for being a part of the CCH family! 💙

A beautiful reminder that no matter what yesterday held, His mercies are brand new this morning. Happy June! 🌤️

✨ Alumni Spotlight: Ben & Hannah West ✨

Meet Ben (Class of 2018) & Hannah (Hohlbauch) West (Class of 2019), two CCH alumni whose story began on a mission trip to Shiloh and continues today in Terre Haute, IN, where they’re raising two kiddos, Salem & Shiloh, alongside their cat, Enderdragon. 🖤

Ben serves as the Music Director at North Vermillion Schools and works in Training & Logistics with the 144th Army Band in Peoria, IL. Hannah now serves in campus ministry herself as a Campus Minister at Christian Student Fellowship at Indiana State University.
----
Both Ben and Hannah were a part of the student leadership leadership team during their time at CCH. Ben served as a life group leader, treasurer, and action group leader. When asked if he could do one thing as a student again he said “Leadership retreat at Fox Ridge.” Hannah also served as a life group leader and said she would do “inductive studies with Danah” all over again. After graduation Hannah stayed at CCH for two years as an intern.
----
Ben and Hannah’s favorite memories from CCH?

Ben: Annual trips to Shiloh and spending time in the CCH basement hanging out with whoever was there regularly.

Hannah: Friendships! “Roger Songer [CCH minister at that time] told me I looked like I could be sisters with a girl named Delaney who ended up being my best friend (& she still is).” She also adds “Another was when I was getting emotional during worship at a girls’ night. A random girl passed me a paper with her number on it. She said text if I ever needed anything. I still take her up on that offer.”
----
When asked their favorite events they both said the end of the year canoe trip and the Shiloh mission trip, where they first met! ❤️
----
What led them into ministry:

Ben: A family history of ministry and “Chris Fryer and Luke Hearn bringing me regularly into CCH in 2013/2014.”

Hannah: “I. Love. Campus. Ministry. If I could have switched my major to CCH, I would have. I have received nothing but love from the ministry & now I wish to give that away freely as well.”
----
We’re so thankful for the ways Ben & Hannah continue to live out their faith and invest in others.💙

"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends." — John 15:13

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their selflessness and courage reflect a profound love that we hold in deep respect.

At Christian Campus House, we are forever grateful for the heroes who served and the families who carry their legacy. May we live lives worthy of the freedom they secured for us. 🇺🇸🙏
