But what do they see in it all?
They see the hand of God at work, preparing the way, and opening doors for the gospel to bring life to the gentiles, and they, worthy of suffering for the name of Christ, being spent for the glory of God.

Is that what we see? And is that our response? God is on the move, God is preparing the world, the harvest is white, His glory is flooding the earth, my life, my
trials, my bruises and scars are not in vain…glory be to God!

James is dead. Peter’s imprisoned. Herod is fat and happy. Where do we go from here? What comes next?

Peter is miraculously delivered, Herod is eaten by worms, and the Word of God increased and multiplied. God‘s plans will not be thwarted. The Gospel will go forth.

After darkness, light!

Remember the city of Antioch - a city much like ours today. Into that darkness few were sent, and out came marvelous light. Do not despise the day of small things, for the Lord uses the faithful, unnamed acts of those who fly under the radar for His Kingdom and purposes.

Don’t bow the knee. Ask the Father to take away the cup if He would and wills, but do not take the devil’s shortcut…that way is never shorter and it never delivers on its promise, but only strips us of the flowering fruit, the glory planned for us, even if through death and resurrection.

What is our response when we pray with urgency but God does not respond? Listen to this sermon from Psalm 70 and be encouraged by the character of God and the words of His servant David.

Who is the Lord? What has He done? Why should He be praised by all the earth?

Psalm 66 gives us a taste of the answers to these questions, through the lens of history. Come and see, come and hear, what the Lord has done. He is awesome in deed and mighty in power. Let all the earth praise Him!

What does David do when he is reviled?

He uses that as an opportunity to trust in the Lord. He relies on the Lord to take vengeance, because God is great at it; He does not miss. So what is your approach when attacked? Do you go to the Lord for help?
