One's personal transformation as a disciple of Jesus bears greatly on the transformation of the church they regularly attend. As the apostle Paul writes, "from Christ the whole body promotes the growth of the body for building itself up in love by the proper working of each individual part," (Ephesians 4:16).

At our church, a primary way we promote the growth of the body is by focusing on 3 key relationships: our relationship with God, our relationship with those in Christ, and our relationship with those not yet in Christ.

These relationships have been expressed as:
"Up," "In," and "Out". At Grace, we use the terms:
"Abide," "Grow," and "Connect." In this message, we'll dive a bit deeper into what this all means.

For a Christian, the foundation for all transformation is their union with Jesus Christ and His gospel. Because of this, a Christian's transformation has two realities - positional and progressive.

When God looks upon those who belong to Him, He sees the finished work of Jesus covering each of them. To Him, each believer is perfect and holy because of their union with Jesus. This is the positional reality of transformation (sanctification).

The Holy Spirit is responsible for transforming every believer into the image of the Person they're united to - Jesus. And He faithfully does this, beginning the moment a person is born-again and finishing when Christ returns or they go to Christ through death. This is the progressive reality of transformation (sanctification).

"For by one offering Jesus Christ has perfected forever (positional) those who are being sanctified (progressive)," Hebrews 10:14. Because of what He has done, Jesus has made perfect forever those who are being made perfect.

Walking with Jesus arises from what we believe, which arises from Whom we belong to. What we believe, then, matters. What we allow into our minds, and what we allow to become our beliefs matters.

In this message, we'll look at what faith is, what it means for us to renew our minds, and how both are connected to our relationship with Jesus.

J.I Packer wrote, "The entire Christian life is best understood in terms of our adoption as God's children." As Christians, we're fully known and fully loved by a Father who chooses us, a Savior who secures us, and a Spirit who indwells us. And this is done despite our brokenness and struggle with sin.

God didn't set His love on a future version of you; His love was set upon you before you existed. It's His love that opened your ears to the gospel message. His love caused you to be born-again. And His love enabled you to call out to Him in faith.
