Deep gratitude to Koji Acquaviva for a wonderful practice weekend at the Cedar Rapids Zen Center, and to all of the participants who attended part or all of the weekend. The Dharma talk, discussion, and board/sangha retreat led to our practice focus for the year on compassion.
The character for compassion in our Temple name is the Japanese character Ji 慈, which means "mercy" or "compassion." The character is constructed of two components: one that represents the production of silk, and another that represents the heart.
Koji described our practice mission, selected through collaborative community and board discussion, as reflecting our silken heart into the world. May we all engage living beings and the universe with the compassion of a silken heart.
Join us weekly on Sundays at 9 a.m. as we embody this practice.
