Why does following Jesus feel so unrealistic?

Yesterday, Pastor Al wrapped up our Heavy Lifting series with a powerful reminder—Jesus calls us to a way of living that doesn’t always make sense: loving our enemies, letting go of control, and fully trusting God.

When our perspective clashes with His, we’re invited to go deeper—beyond “easy faith” into a trust that changes how we live… and reminds us that God is the one doing the heavy lifting.

Remember this week’s challenge 👇

Read the Gospels and pay attention to:
• How Jesus’ perspective is completely different from ours
• How no one fully accepted His words
• How His disciples tried to fit Him into their version of a “real-world” king
• What His parables and actions are really showing us

Then go to Acts 2—
the moment everything shifts and His followers are empowered to actually live it.
You don’t have to do it on your own.

God does the heavy lifting. 💛

At first glance, the image looks fake.
But when you step back, everything changes.

The same is true in our lives—especially when it comes to love.
It’s hard. It’s uncomfortable. It feels unfair.

But what if we’re not seeing the full picture?

Jesus calls us to a different perspective—
one that reflects grace, truth, and a love that takes effort.

Today’s Activity:
Slow down and revisit a “hard” teaching of Jesus instead of skipping it.
➡️ Read Matthew 5:45–48
➡️ Ask: “How is God treating people differently than I do?”
➡️ Write one way you can reflect His love today

It’s never too late. ❤️

That’s not easy… it’s heavy lifting.

Today’s Challenge:
Think of one person who has frustrated, hurt, or challenged you.
➡️ Instead of reacting, pray for them.
➡️ Ask: “What would it look like to respond like Jesus here?”

This Memorial Day, we remember. ❤️🤍💙

Thanks to the generosity of volunteers and donors, the American flag is flying on our flagpole once again—a meaningful reminder of the freedom we live in every day.

Today, we pause to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice made our freedom possible.

As followers of Jesus, we’re reminded of the depth of that sacrifice:
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.” — John 15:13

We are deeply grateful—for those who served, for those we’ve lost, and for the freedom we have, both as a nation and in Christ.

Thank you to everyone who made it possible to raise the flag again. May it stand as a symbol of remembrance, gratitude, and hope.

We’ve been talking about identity—who you are, who we are together—and now we’re learning what it means to be a church family.

Not built on perfection.
Not built on complexity.

But built on two simple things:
→ All about God
→ Simple obedience

That’s what shapes who we are. That’s what defines us.

Ever been frustrated trying to open a banana the “normal” way?

What if the problem isn’t the banana… it’s how you’re approaching it? 😄

We do the same thing with God. We add complexity, expect something dramatic, and miss the simple step right in front of us.

Keep it simple.
Make it about God.
Take the next step of obedience.
