What a Way to Live
Psalm 119:41-48
The Hebrew letter for this stanza is “Vau”
It is pronounced “Vav”
It is often referred to as a hook because of its use as a conjunction. It ties things together.

Here is our hook this morning!
Lurking in the human heart is a passion to be what God has intended for us to be.

He outlined that for us, and that is what he is asking for in these 8 verses.

In the last lesson he prayed and asked 8 specific things to pray for. Now he is suggesting that he use those specific things to improve his life.
We will begin looking at them tomorrow.

What a Way to Pray
Psalm 119:40
“Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in righteousness.”
Behold: Examine me. Quicken me. Make me alive to the word of God. I am open for God’s examination.
Psalm 139:23-24: “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

What a Way to Pray
Psalm 119:40
“Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in righteousness.”
This prayer deals with our Commitment.
"Quicken" means to revive or energize. He is wanting the Holy Spirit to energize him to be the man God wants him to be.
Behold: Examine me. He has an opportunity to live right. To have a deep longing for God’s truth is the mark of a maturing believer.
Matthew 6:21, “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Where our treasure is there will be our heart also. If we long for those precepts, which are rules that we live by. We will be right.

Psalm 119:39
“Turn away my reproach which I fear: for thy judgements are good.”
Our commitment should be found in God whatever consequences come into our life. When we sin, we deserve the punishment for it. But if we confess our sin, God is faithful and just to forgive us of that sin and cleanse us.

This prayer deals with our reputation. When you lose your testimony with someone, do you ever truly get it back? You try to repair it, but it rarely works.
Proverbs 22:1, “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches…”
