2 Corinthians 12:14 (NKJV)
14 Now for the third time I am ready to come to you. And I will not be burdensome to you; for I do not seek yours, but you. For the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.
Some of you may have noticed that the devotional has missed a few days in the past weeks. I have had a very interesting time fighting with the computer and the internet and that has caused some of the devotionals to be delayed. Those who know my abundant skills with electronics are amazed that I get any of these things out. The other reason is something Michelle and I are trying to do, visit with our children and grandchildren which has us traveling a bit. One family in Augusta, Georgia, one family in Carrollton, Georgia, one in Urbana, Illinois, and one in Derwood, Maryland. We have decided to visit all these locations.
Allow me a moment to reflect on this subject. As people get older, there is less desire to travel and some will argue that the expense can be too great. I say that it is worth a little inconvenience and cost to have time with those we love. Yes, I want the children to come visit us but I feel it is only fair to go to them as well.
Why do I mention this here? I want the adults who read this to think about opportunities to spend time with your kids. I want the kids to look for opportunities to spend with their parents. If we are going to see a change in society, it will occur when families come together. They do not have to agree on everything or like everything but they do have to love one another and tell each other that they are loved.
