Although childbirth is rarely pleasant, Mindy* had additional pain she was processing—the baby's father had not taken the time to fill out paperwork that would have allowed him to be at their baby's birth. Initially struggling with the thought of being alone during this time, she was able to find comfort and support with the presence of the NHM doulas. Throughout the long hours, they reassured her that they would be there and she was not alone. After laboring most of the night, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. At first, baby had trouble breathing on her own and we were able to pray with Mindy. We definitely felt He answered our prayers! Soon, baby girl was breathing on her own and her skin turned a beautiful pink color. Afterwards, Mindy expressed that she had no idea that giving birth could be so peaceful and that she could feel so loved and cared for while in labor.
