Please join us on July 5, 2026, at 9:30 am worship service to welcome Byron Center United Methodist Church’s new pastor, Rev. James Thomas (Tommy) Boutell. We are excited about the spirit, gifts, and abilities that Rev. Tommy will be bringing to our congregation. His wife Shelly and he have been married for 32 years and have three adult children and one granddaughter. Shelly is an MSW therapist specializing in substance-use disorders and complex care. He will serve two churches, Grand Rapids South UMC and Byron Center United Methodist Church. He has been in full-time ministry since finishing seminary in 2009 and has master’s degrees in political science and divinity. We are planning a warm welcome for Rev. Tommy and look forward to beginning our shared ministry under his leadership. Please hold them and their family in prayer during these months of transition. Trust God’s amazing grace, Christ’s faithful love, and the presence and power of the Holy Spirit as we move into the future.

School Supplies Drive / Collection: It’s time for our annual School Supplies Drive. All items collected will be delivered to Nickels Intermediate School! If you can, please donate new unopened items from the following list. You can donate them at Church on any Sunday morning or the evening of July 23, 2026 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Please consider donating items to this worthy cause. Items needed:
• Scientific calculator (Texas Instruments, model # TI30 XIIS solar, TI30 XIIB battery. Available at: Meijer, Target, Walmart, etc.)
• Agenda book if it helps your students' learning style.
• Fine tip colored markers
• Backpacks 17 inch or bigger (preferably with pocket on side for water bottle) we need only black, brown, or navy backpacks at this time.
• Two pocket folders
• One inch binders with pockets
• 5-Tab Dividers
• #2 pencils (extra lead if mechanical)
• Extra eraser(s)
• Pencil pouch or case (zipper and three hole punched if possible)
• +4 colors of highlighters
• Sticky notes
• Earbuds/headphones (for Chromebook use)
• Colored pencils
• Wide ruled spiral notebook (single subject, 100+ pages) for math notes
• Composition notebooks (100+ sheets) (writing & reading)
• Glue sticks
• Facial Tissue
• Anti-bacterial wipes
• BandAids
• Highlighters

FAMILY FUN NIGHT - JULY 23, 2026 6:00 PM TO 8:00 PM
BYRON DAYS FESTIVAL 2026! Byron Center UMC will again be hosting its Family Fun Night on July 23, 2026 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. It will be an evening of food, games, inflatable obstacle course, face painting by Fancy Faces Face Painting LLC, inflatable by ACP, and the School Supplies Raffle. If you bring a new, unopened school supply to BCUMC on Family Fun Night you will receive a raffle ticket to be entered to win great prizes such as one of one of five LEGO sets, and one of one John Ball Zoo gift certificate equal to a one year of membership! In addition, there will be two Raffle Prizes that won’t be revealed until the night of the Event! On July 23rd be sure to visit the Byron Center Museum and Historical Society next door! Hope to see you there! This event is FREE and open to all!
