Today marks 58 years since the Civil Rights Act of 1968 was signed into law by Lyndon B. Johnson, prohibiting discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of housing.

It combated practices like redlining, which denied Black Americans access to mortgages and homeownership.

While the law was effective in combating the worst discriminatory practices, today the Black homeownership gap is wider than it was in 1968.

Housing is expensive for everyone. We need a President and leaders in Congress who will fight to bring housing costs down. Instead, Trump and Republican congressional leaders are more interested in fighting senseless wars.

We are deeply sorrowful to announce the passing of Sister Deborah Faulk. A Celebration of Life Service honoring her triumphant life will be held at Berean on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 11:00 am. We kindly ask for your continued prayers and support for the family, including Brother and Sister David & Nykia Wharton, Faith Wharton,Brother & Sister Bradley & Melinda Hunt, Kordaye Hunt as they grieve during this bereavement period.
