Congregation Kehillath Israel

Congregation Kehillath Israel We are a warm, vibrant and inclusive community enriching Jewish life since 1917. Our past is rich in decades, personalities, and stories.

Congregation Kehillath Israelโ€™s commitments to education, Zionism, and Jewish tradition have thrived for more than 90 years, ever since KI was established as the first Brookline synagogue in 1917. We are proud of the more than 60 rabbis and professional educators that have grown up in our community over the years. We strive to continue to strengthen our bond with Israel, provide first-rate learnin

g experiences, and enable congregants from all backgrounds to experience the holiness of prayer. KIโ€™s role as a bedrock of the Boston Jewish community has led us to the forefront of religious egalitarianism โ€“ with a strong commitment to womenโ€™s full participation in all of our services. Our historic position enables us to communally host many events and lectures of timely concern to the wider region. Our present brims with content, connections, and cause. We welcome new faces and seasoned ones; people of all ages, backgrounds, genders, and orientations; and encourage everyone to join us and lend your willing heart and hands to scripting our future.

How we respond in our hardest moments often says more about our character than how we act when life is easy.

Sweet moments to start your week!

On Friday, our preschool families gathered for a Family Shabbat Sing & Breakfast with Rabbi Hamilton! Ariel Wyner, KI Director of Spiritual Engagement, and his wife, Sofia, joined us as wellโ€”and of course, we canโ€™t forget Happy the puppet! Rabbi Hamilton and Happy led us in the Shabbat blessings and the prayer for the children. Then, we all sang and danced along with Ariel and Sofia!

Listening closely for a call is rarely easy.

But, as Rabbi Hamilton reflects in his Shabbat message, it is one of the most meaningful ways we can show up for the people we love most. He explains here: https://congki.org/edvar/
