Lord, as our students head back to the classroom, we ask for Your protection over them — their hearts, minds, and friendships. Give them courage to face new challenges and confidence in who You made them to be.

For our teachers, we pray for patience, energy, and joy in the calling You’ve placed on their lives. Equip them for the year ahead.

And for our parents, grant peace in the transition and wisdom as they guide their kids through it all.

Bless this school year, Lord — in every classroom, every hallway, every heart. Amen.

# One Tablet Before Each Meal

*Part two in the "Take as Directed" series*

I don't know about you, but I've never once looked at a prescription bottle and thought, "I'll just take this whenever I feel like it." When the label says twice a day, I take it twice a day. When it says with food, I eat something first. I don't negotiate with my pharmacist.

So why do I treat prayer like it's optional?

Psalm 55:17 gives us David's own dosage schedule: "Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice." Three times a day. Not because prayer is a chore to check off, but because David knew something we forget in the rush of our own lives — we don't run on yesterday's grace. We need a fresh dose.

Think about your own mealtimes this week. Breakfast rushed in the car. Lunch eaten at a desk, scrolling a phone. Dinner interrupted by homework and practice schedules and a hundred small emergencies. It would be easy to let every one of those moments pass without a single thought turned toward God.

But what if every meal became a checkpoint instead? Not a long, formal prayer — just a breath. A "thank You." A "help me." A "I need You for the rest of today." Three built-in reminders a day, already scheduled into your life, that you didn't even have to add to your calendar.

Here's what I love about this picture: nobody skips their medicine because they're "too busy." We build our whole day around it if we have to. What if we gave prayer that same non-negotiable status — not out of guilt, but because we actually believe it does something?

**Something to try:** For the next three days, let your fork be your reminder. Before the first bite of every meal, breathe one honest sentence to God — thanks, praise, confession, or a simple ask for guidance through what's left of the day.

**A question to sit with:** What would change in your week if you treated prayer less like a New Year's resolution and more like medicine you actually need to survive?

*Psalm 55:17 — "Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice."*

Here's a short devo inspired by that "Follow Directions!" 8-5-26

# # Read the Label First

Ever grab a bottle of medicine, skip the label, and just... take some? No. Nobody does that. You check the dose, the warnings, how often you're supposed to take it — because ignoring the directions could actually hurt you.

So here's a weird question: if we're that careful with a bottle of ibuprofen, why do we wing it with way bigger stuff? Who we date. What we post. How we spend our time. Which friends we let speak into our lives. Those decisions carry way more weight than a headache pill, but a lot of us make them without checking any "label" at all.

Proverbs 3:5-6 gives us the label for life: *"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."*

God's not just handing you the bottle and walking away. He wants to walk you through the directions — through prayer, through Scripture, through the people He's placed around you (parents, youth leaders, mentors, friends who actually want good for you).

**This week:** Before your next big-ish decision, pause and ask — have I actually checked the directions? Or am I just guessing and hoping it works out?

**Talk about it:**
- What's one area of your life where you've been "winging it" instead of checking in with God first?
- Who's someone in your life whose advice you trust enough to actually ask?

Love you guys bunches!!!!

Let’s keep celebrating this special group—our high school seniors! 🎓 These are the ones I was able to catch in this busy season of their life! I’ll post a couple others when I catch them!

What a joy it has been to watch you grow, learn, serve, and step into who God has created you to be. As you begin this next chapter, know that you are deeply loved, continually prayed for, and never alone in what lies ahead.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5-6

Go boldly, walk faithfully, and remember that wherever life takes you, God goes before you. Your church family is so proud of you!
