SUNDAY RECAP | What a blessing it is to be part of a church FAMILY!

What a blessing it is to gather in the Lord’s house each week with our church family. This past Sunday was nothing short of a beautiful day spent honoring God and remembering one of His good and faithful servants, and a beloved member of our church family, whom He called home earlier in the week.

It was also the first Sunday of the month, which means BGMC Sunday! Our Missions Coordinator shared with us about Paraguay and reminded us of the importance of raising up the next generation with a heart for missions and reaching people around the world with the Gospel.

We were also blessed to hear an incredible message from our First Lady, Pastor Andrea Vanness.
God certainly used her to speak to our hearts Sunday morning. (If you missed the sermon- stayed tuned because the sermon highlights are coming!)

And after morning service, we did what family does best—we showed up.

Our church family gathered around the Vanness family as they celebrated the life of James Milo Vanness Sr. We loved on them, supported them, prayed with them, and stood beside them as they honored a life well lived.

And I don’t know about y’all, but when I heard we were having “second church” at the funeral, I wasn’t about to miss whatever message God had for us.

There is something incredibly special about having a church family that accepts you as you are, loves you where you are, and SHOWS UP wherever you are.

Because that’s what family does.
And especially when you hear your pastor is preaching… 👀You already know Cornerstone is showing up! (Because the first 3 closings 😉 just wasn’t enough .. we wanted more!)

We continue to surround Pastor Charles, Pastor Andrea, and the entire Vanness family with our love and prayers in the days ahead.

We don’t just go to church together. We do life together.

What a blessing it is to call Cornerstone home.

This Sunday, September 6, we will gather together as a church family for our regular morning services:

Sunday School — 10:00 AM
Sunday Morning Worship — 11:00 AM
There will be NO evening services.

Church family, please let me encourage you to show up for the ones who are always showing up for us.

Pastor Charles and his family have loved us, prayed for us, stood beside us, celebrated with us, grieved with us, and faithfully poured into our church family. Right now, they need us.

As Pastor and his family lay his father, Mr. James Milo Vanness, Sr., to rest Sunday afternoon, let’s surround them with the same love and support they have so freely given to so many others.

Whether it is attending the visitation or funeral, sending a message, bringing a meal, offering a hug, or simply covering this family in prayer—let’s remind them that they do not walk through this season of grief alone.

Church family, this is our opportunity to be the Church. Let’s show up, love well, and pray fervently for Pastor Charles, Andrea, and the entire Vanness family.

What a wonderful Sunday at Cornerstone!

This morning, we had the opportunity to celebrate our amazing Sunday School teachers with a special breakfast and show them just how much we love and appreciate all they do.

From our littlest ones in the nursery all the way through adulthood, there is a Sunday School class for everyone at Cornerstone!

We are incredibly blessed with some of the BEST teachers—men and women who show up each week eager and excited to teach God’s Word, pour into others, and help each person grow in their walk with Christ.

And the blessing didn’t stop there!

Pastor brought an incredible message from the story of the Good Samaritan titled:

✨ “It Isn’t as Bad as It Seems” ✨

Such a powerful reminder that sometimes what we see as an interruption, inconvenience, or difficult situation may actually be an opportunity God has placed right in front of us to show His love.

We’re thankful for our teachers.
We’re thankful for our Pastor.
We’re thankful for the Word.
And we’re thankful for another beautiful Sunday spent together at Cornerstone!

If you don’t have a Sunday School class, we would LOVE to have you join us next Sunday. There’s a place for you here!

Bring your bestie for a wonderful and fun night of fellowship with our Women on the Frontline Group!!
