Da Nang Day 1!
We left Ho Chi Minh City and flew to Da Nang. As soon as we landed, we sent our bags off in one van and headed out in another.
That afternoon, we arrived at the church and were greeted by more enthusiastic believers who were ready to hear God’s Word. I honestly don’t know if I’ll ever get used to the excitement and hunger I see in these people. I am still awestruck by their desire to live for Christ.
The young man leading worship was incredible. He worshiped with the kind of freedom and passion that made you feel like he would be just as comfortable praising God in front of 10,000 people as he was standing in front of our small group. There was no performance—just genuine worship.
We ministered well into the evening, sharing lessons and stories, but the truth is, I feel like we received just as much as we gave. Their faith, their joy, and their willingness to follow Christ have challenged and encouraged me in ways I didn’t expect.
A pastor who had been imprisoned for two years simply for sharing his faith closed the evening in prayer.
That kind of prayer needs no interpretation. You don’t need to understand every word. You can just feel it.
You can feel the faith.
You can feel the sacrifice.
You can feel the love for Christ.
These people were so kind, so generous, and most of all, so sincere. There was something so pure about being with people who have counted the cost and still say, “Jesus is worth it.”
I left that church deeply humbled.
I keep thinking about what it would look like if we all lived with that kind of faith—unashamed, completely surrendered, and willing to follow Christ no matter the cost.
I can’t wait for the day when we all live that kind of faith.
