Do you think when Jesus wrote on the ground (John 8:6,8), perhaps He was referring to Jeremiah 17:13?
Lord, you are the hope of Israel;
all who forsake you will be put to shame.
Those who turn away from you will be written in the dust
because they have forsaken the Lord,
the spring of living water. - Jeremiah 17:13
"They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger" (John 8:6).
"Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground" (John 8:8).
We don't know what was written; the Bible is silent on this matter.
But, regarding our names being written, the Bible teaches us that there are a couple of places our names are recorded - "written in the earth" or the Lamb's Book of Life.
Jesus said, "However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven" (Luke 10:20).
The New Testament reveals this statement: " Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life" (Revelation 21:27).
How does one get their name into the Lamb's Book of Life?
