You are invited to join the Spencer County church of Christ family this Sunday.

On Sunday, we will use the Bible to examine three different groups of people that asked Jesus a question that revealed their motives.

The same questions are asked today.

The answer and outcome is dependent on whom you choose to follow and obey.

Contact us if you have any questions. We'll save you a seat and look forward to meeting you!

Sunday's Lesson: What's Your Soul Worth?

The Apostle Peter was inspired to write that the blood of Jesus shed in His physical death was worth more than silver and gold.

Jesus presented the question:
"For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?"
(Matthew 16:26)

We are a congregation that enjoys sharing the Good News about Jesus.
You are invited to join our Sunday morning Bible study at 9:00 am and the worship service that begins at 10:00 am.

Check out our website and contact us if you have any questions.

It is our prayer to see you on Sunday...we'll save you a seat.

We teach the same message today as the apostles (Galatians 1:6-9)

- we have a divine obligation to speak as the oracles of god (1 Peter 4:11);

we need to teach people to call on the name of the Lord (Acts 2:21),

but we must explain that correctly (Acts 2:37-38; 22:16; 1 Peter 3:21).

You are invited to join us for Bible study and worship.

Sunday Bible study: 9:00 AM
Sunday Worship: 10:00 AM

At the Spencer County church of Christ, we strive to be hospitable and welcoming to all visitors.

Whether you've visited once or twice in the past, or this is your first time, you'll not want to miss the meaningful worship service with your neighbors that want to be together with other followers of Christ.

I get it...there are hundreds of things you could do on a Sunday morning, but you are seeking answers to your questions about God in a world that has many confusing and conflicting ideas about Him.

We'll open God's Word (The Bible) and teach you the Truth.

Jesus stated in John 8:32 "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

We'll save you a seat. See you on Sunday morning.

Another question: Rescuing someone often requires a sacrifice of time, reputation, or money. What are the specific "barriers" that keep us from stepping in when we see someone stumbling?

You are invited to participate with us this Sunday morning at 10:00 AM as we gather to worship God.

Our lesson will consider some practical tips around Proverbs 24:11-12.

Are you looking for a place for genuine connection with others?

You will be warmly greeted when you enter the door at the Spencer County church of Christ.

Please arrange your schedule to visit us on Sunday morning. It's worth the drive!

Do you think when Jesus wrote on the ground (John 8:6,8), perhaps He was referring to Jeremiah 17:13?

Lord, you are the hope of Israel;
all who forsake you will be put to shame.
Those who turn away from you will be written in the dust
because they have forsaken the Lord,
the spring of living water. - Jeremiah 17:13

"They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger" (John 8:6).

"Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground" (John 8:8).

We don't know what was written; the Bible is silent on this matter.

But, regarding our names being written, the Bible teaches us that there are a couple of places our names are recorded - "written in the earth" or the Lamb's Book of Life.

Jesus said, "However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven" (Luke 10:20).

The New Testament reveals this statement: " Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life" (Revelation 21:27).

How does one get their name into the Lamb's Book of Life?

Contact us. Let us find someone you will feel comfortable meeting and having a Bible study to show you the plan of salvation in the Bible.

Don't have a Bible? - No worries. We will give you one.

You are invited to join our Sunday Bible study at 9:00 AM.
We begin the Sunday Worship Service at 10:00 AM.

We need to remember that when God asked this question, He already knew the answer. God was not looking for information but was giving Adam an opportunity to come forward and own up to what he had done.

God knew where Adam was, just as He knows where we are at all times.

"The eyes of the Lord are in every place, watching the evil and the good" (Proverbs 15:3).

There is nowhere that we can go that is beyond what God is able to see and know (cf. Psalm 139:7-12).

Is this comforting or troubling to you?

You are invited to our Sunday morning Bible study at 9:00 AM.

As we study Adam, we need to remember that sin brings condemnation. In contrast with Adam, we have hope through Christ. The first prophecy of the redeeming work of Christ was made after Adam and Eve sinned (Genesis 3:15).

The Apostle Paul contrasted Adam and Christ in his inspired letter to the church in Corinth: "For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive" (1 Corinthians 15:21-22).

One of the many discussion questions we will talk about on Sunday:
"God is omniscient; He knew exactly where Adam was. Why do you think God chose to ask a question rather than make an accusation?"

We'll save you a seat!

You are invited to hear a message about how we can engage with our own culture today. One of the points we will learn about is finding common ground just as Paul did when he began by observing his surroundings and even quoting Athenian inscriptions rather than starting with Hebrew Scripture.

Paul started with what the Athenians already knew and valued.

A question for Christians: When sharing your faith, do you tend to start with "the rules" or with common human experiences like the search for meaning, why we are here, or justice?

I've had objections to personal invitations to come to worship service on Sunday morning with "It's too far to drive."

Like a great restaurant, it's worth the drive.
