💚 Wellness Wednesday | PTSD Awareness Month 💚

June is **PTSD Awareness Month**, a time to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and remind those affected that help is available and recovery is possible.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event.

⚠️ Common symptoms may include:
• Flashbacks or nightmares
• Avoiding reminders of the trauma
• Feelings of isolation or hopelessness
• Being constantly on edge or having trouble sleeping

🖤 Why it matters in our community:
African Americans experience higher rates of PTSD and often face barriers to receiving mental health care, including stigma, limited access to culturally competent providers, and financial challenges.

💡 PTSD is treatable. Therapy, support groups, medication, and other evidence-based treatments can help individuals regain control and improve their quality of life.

📞 If you are struggling, talk with a healthcare or mental health professional. If you are in crisis, call or text **988** to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline 24/7.

💬 Share this post to help break the stigma surrounding mental health and remind others that they are not alone.

❤️ Wellness Wednesday | World Sickle Cell Day ❤️

As we prepare to celebrate Juneteenth on June 19th, let's also recognize World Sickle Cell Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness, supporting affected individuals and families, and encouraging early diagnosis and treatment.

🩸 What is Sickle Cell Disease?
Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is an inherited blood disorder that affects hemoglobin, causing red blood cells to become hard and sickle-shaped. These cells can block blood flow and reduce oxygen delivery throughout the body.

⚠️ SCD can cause:
• Severe pain episodes
• Fatigue and anemia
• Increased risk of infections
• Organ damage and other complications

🖤 Why it matters in our community:
• About 1 in 13 African American babies is born with Sickle Cell Trait.
• About 1 in 365 African American babies is born with Sickle Cell Disease.

💡 Awareness helps promote:
✔️ Early testing and screening
✔️ Access to treatment and support
✔️ Genetic counseling
✔️ Blood donation, especially from Black donors

💬 Share this post or tag someone to help spread awareness and support those living with sickle cell disease.

Please keep Cassandra Ross and her family lifted in prayer as they lay her father, John A. Junior, to rest.

We pray that God surrounds the family with comfort, peace, and strength during this difficult time. May they feel His love and presence as they celebrate his life, legacy, and cherished memories.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” — Matthew 5:4
