On July 14, as we prepared to leave for Buffalo, our truck needed service and could not be driven. The dealership provided a loaner, but we could not tow our camper. We stayed in a hotel for two weeks, adding to our expenses.
Sandy ran the tool room, handing out and receiving tools for the crews. Fred delivered materials where they were needed.
In Buffalo, 1,650 volunteers served 304 families. Most importantly, at least 12 people accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior!
Corning Safe House | August 7–21
After returning home July 26, we traveled to Corning, New York. Sandy served in facilities and laundry; Fred ran materials and helped wherever he could between supply trips.
Northwest Indiana rapid response
The Gary, Indiana area was hit by a derecho with sustained winds over 100 mph. Trees broke and fell throughout the area. We served from August 23 through September 5.
During the first week, Sandy and Fred helped assess damage. The second week, Sandy worked facilities and laundry while Fred led jobs.
We assessed 230 jobs and helped 173 families. We could not reach everyone assessed; as of September 25, Fred was still receiving calls requesting help.
A personal update and invitation to support
This year has brought unexpected expenses. Fred has had AFib and needed costly medication, which limited his physical activity. He had a heart ablation this month, and his doctors are hopeful it was successful and that he can return to full physical duty. Sandy continues to face health challenges.
Camper repairs and high diesel costs have also increased our expenses. Please prayerfully consider increasing your monthly support or making a one-time extra financial gift. Thank you for your prayers and partnership.
