Yes, our country is still rife with inequality, racism, s*xism, homophobia, and xenophobia. It is imperative to name these social ills when we see them. It's important to look to our past and recognize how far we have come together. The Emancipation Proclamation wasn't ratified until 1865. Women couldn't vote until 1920. Same s*x couples couldn't marry until 2015! By looking to how we got here today, we find lessons for how we go forward. Join in person or via Zoom. When the Pew Research Center released their findings in 2025 of the study titled Spirituality Among Americans, you can bet that the results were varied and fascinating. Despite all of us humans sharing a common story and one planet, there sure are a lot of ways to approach the ideas of spirituality and religion. We will do our own survey and explore our different relationships to these two lofty concepts.

Unitarian Universalist musician, Jim Scott, intersperses original songs and readings with his personal reflections on a spiritual ecological awareness. The idea of Mother Earth or "Gaia" being a living organism with the same physical attributes as humans connects us with our life support system. Our spiritual response is deeply needed now as "the spirit of life on earth is in crisis." Jim's uplifting songs provide balance to the wake-up call. Join in person or via Zoom. Stories are the most powerful way we have of organizing human experience. Sunday’s message is about our stories, their healing power and their importance in creating meaningful lives. NY Times bestselling and award-winning author Jane Kirkpatrick shares her personal story as a writer, mental health professional, homesteader and storyteller, and how Spirit threaded through her journey, with a hope listeners may see and value more the threads within their own stories.https://mailchi.mp/uufco/ace-2026-08-16

Join us as we celebrate our youth and "bridge" our high school seniors into young adulthood. In honoring them, we also reflect on the deeper meaning of what it is to be truly noticed, named, and known within a community. Together, we’ll explore how we can nurture that kind of connection for one another, and how each of us is called into the work of seeing and being seen. Join us in person or via Zoom.
