CG is excited to share that the group laying the groundwork for our third house-church has identified September 12 as its first gathering! They’ll be gathering around a meal and focusing on growing an intergenerational family of faith that can extend grace and support to each other in life and in a shared pursuit of Jesus.
🌲🏔️🌲
This new house church will begin meeting Saturday, September 12, from 5:00–7:00 PM. Whether you’ve been part of Common Ground for years, are just beginning to explore faith, or are simply looking for a community to do life with, you’re welcome to join us!
🌲🏔️🌲
If you or anyone you know might be interested in this group, send us a message and pass the word along! We invite everyone to set a reminder to pray for this brand new initiative!

Why a new LifeGroup? This approach is rooted in the picture we see in Acts 2:42–47, where followers of Jesus shared life together in homes, around tables, and throughout their communities. It’s relational rather than program-driven, simple and sustainable, and designed to multiply healthy Jesus-centered communities.

Join Common Ground this October for a weekend of Silence & Solitude along Oregon’s beautiful McKenzie River. In the midst of autumn’s quiet beauty, we’ll step away from the noise and demands of everyday life to make space for deep listening: to our own hearts, to God, and to one another. You don’t need to be an expert in contemplative practices to join us. Cost includes 5 meals, 2 nights of lodging, and facilitated retreat content. If cost is a barrier to your attendance, please reach out to us. Link in bio to register!
🌲 🏔️🌲
Whether you are new to silence and solitude or have practiced it for years, this retreat offers a welcoming space to explore these ancient rhythms together, be seen and heard, and rediscover the companionship of the Divine.
🌲 🏔️🌲
What can you expect? Shared meals, worship, and reflection to help settle into the retreat experience.
🌲 🏔️🌲
Guided introductions to the practice of silence and solitude, designed for both beginners and experienced practitioners.
🌲 🏔️🌲
Extended solitude sessions with freedom to pray, journal, walk, reflect, rest, or spend quiet time in nature along the McKenzie River.
🌲 🏔️🌲
Guided deep-listening experiences that create space to hear God, attend to your own heart, and connect more deeply with others.
🌲 🏔️🌲
A guided relaxation and sound bath to encourage rest, renewal, and attentive presence.
🌲 🏔️🌲
A silent community breakfast and closing reflection focused on carrying these practices into everyday life.

August 7-9 is our Suttle Lake Campout! Please register via our website in our bio. We have a limited number of reservations left, but we’ll be helping grab first-come-first-serve spots as well. We couldn’t be more excited to spend a weekend together in one of Central Oregon’s most beautiful places. Whether you’re camping for the whole weekend or just joining us for part of it, this is an opportunity to slow down, share meals, enjoy the outdoors, worship together, and simply be present with one another. If fire or smoke become an issue for the event, we’ll make announcements closer to the weekend. 🌞 🏕️

Hey CG fam! This weekend is our next Gathers so no LifeGroups will be meeting. We’re excited for Gathers this Saturday at Cultus Lake. 🌞 We’ll be starting with a discussion time at 10:30 then people are welcome to hang out at the lake for a few hours. Please bring a chair or blanket, sun screen, water, paddle boards, kayaks, tubes, etc. and we’ll have a fun day at the lake! A lunch of veggie burgers (and real burgers), potato salad, chips, and watermelon will be served around noon. The best parking is at the Cultus Lake Boating Site and you will find a large dirt parking area across from the Day Use area. You can also park at the boat ramp parking lot. We’ll have our CG signs up so you can locate our group when you arrive. Can’t wait to see you all there!

Registration for our volunteer event at the Oregon Cascades 100 mile race is now open! 😎 On Saturday, July 25th, runners from across the region will take on the Oregon Cascades 100, a 100-mile trail race featuring approximately 11,000 feet of climbing and descent through the beautiful Central Oregon Cascades. Common Ground is proud to be partnering with the event for another year, bringing volunteers together to support runners at one of the race’s busiest aid stations. Whether you’re helping fill water bottles, serving food, or cheering on participants, you’ll play an important role in helping runners reach the finish line.
🍗 👟 🕶️
This year’s theme is Backyard Dad. This isn’t just an aid station, it’s a Saturday afternoon in the suburbs. Volunteers are encouraged to fully embrace their inner dad: cargo shorts, tucked-in polos or button-up shirts, white crew socks, baseball caps, sunglasses, mustaches (real or fake), and New Balance shoes are highly encouraged. Bonus points for cell phone belt clips, golf clubs, lawn chairs, grilling aprons, and an excessive number of keys hanging from your belt.
🍗 👟 🕶️
The aid station should feel like runners just wandered into a dad’s backyard. Think lawn chairs, coolers, golf bags, classic rock, dad jokes, and plenty of enthusiastic encouragement. Greet runners with peak dad energy, offer them “Dad Fuel,” ask if they’ve been staying hydrated, and remind them that “we’re making good time.” The goal is simple: create the most welcoming, ridiculous, and memorable suburban backyard experience possible for every runner who passes through.
