Myokoji Temples offers a silent meditation group for practicing one of many silent meditation forms including zazen/silent illumination/shamatha, vipassana, metta (lovingkindness), karuna (compassion), mudita (sympathetic joy), upekka (equanimity), dhyana/jhana, mantra etc. We intend to create a friendly and safe community to support the effort and intention of your practice and the cultivation of

your heartmind. This group is open to people of all spiritual traditions who have a genuine interest in learning and practicing meditation. The practice of meditation and the cultivation of awakening your HeartMind (Bodhicitta) is a simple yet profound form of awakening, self-care and self-transformation. The group is led by Jeffrey Sanryu Compton, an ordained priest in the Phoenix Cloud (Soto Zen) lineage. It exists entirely by donation and is open to people of all spiritual traditions & faiths. We ask that if you practice with us to not be under the influence of any mind altering substances, prescription or otherwise. We look forward to sitting with you. We are deeply saddened to announce that Robert A.F. Thurman, prominent American Buddhist scholar, co-founder of Tibet House US, author and translator whose teachings shaped countless lives, died Tuesday morning, June 16, in Woodstock, New York.
