“I believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church.” The word church used in the creed and in the bible is ekklesia, meaning a gathering or assembly. Christ promised that whenever we assemble together to remember Him at the Eucharist, that He would be present in our midst. (Matthew 18:20) From this we can draw several ideas.
1) In order to be considered a part of the assembly, a person must actually assemble with the others, as the body of Christ.
2) When we assemble together for the purpose of worshiping God, we encounter Him there in the Eucharist, and receive healing and restoration in Him.
3) If we plan to assemble to encounter Christ in the Eucharist, the previous six days should be lived in anticipation and preparation of this sacrament.
