Ben Lomond Quaker Center Ben Lomond Quaker Center While most people stay overnight, the facilities and the grounds are wonderful for day-long events, particularly during mid-week.

Nestled in 80 acres of coastal redwoods, tan oaks and madrones, Quaker Center is a serene space where many guests seek, and find, spiritual replenishment. Quaker Center has two lodge facilities and five personal retreat spaces for spiritual retreats, conferences, workshops, reunions and weddings.

In this month's online program, Organizing for Climate Resilience, we've been learning about how to begin developing climate resilience in our local communities and meetings. Cherice Bock, the program leader, encourages communities to start by looking at "assets" rather than needs. Sometimes acknowledging what we have is the first step towards finding the hope to face the future.

"When the isolated drops meet they share the majesty of the ocean to which they belong."

What does your community already have that's worth preserving and building upon?

Just some appreciation for our native redwood trees.

Cherice's program begins this Tuesday and runs every Tuesday through the end of May. Whether you are working alone or with others - come develop a practical toolset, collaborate with others and get inspired on what your next step is to bring climate action to your meeting or community.

04/29/2026

Invite your F/friends and local community to come join us next Tuesday online at 6:30 pm and through the rest of May! The author of "A Quaker Ecology: Meditations on the Future of Friends," Cherice calls us to embrace the courage embodied in Quaker history and heritage as we face the greatest crisis in human history.

We cannot face this crisis alone. We must do it together. Bring your friends to learn and get inspired about how you can act today for a better, more hopeful, tomorrow. See our bio or visit quakercenter.org to sign up.

Our first session with Cherice is less than two weeks away! Because this program is directed towards helping participants begin or continue concrete organizing efforts in their communities, we invite participants to search for others in their local Meeting or community groups to join them at the program.

The work of organizing is much more sustainable and fulfilling when shared. Start talking to your friends now and get them to sign up with you if you can or simply come as you are.

You can register or learn more on our website. Link in bio.
