Today the Church celebrates the Feast of St. Barnabas the Apostle. Barnabas a companion of St. Paul. He was a man dedicated to the Lord and filled with the Holy Spirit and Faith.

Grant, O God, that we may follow the example of your faithful servant Barnabas, who, seeking not his own renown but the well-being of your Church, gave generously of his life and substance for the relief of the poor and the spread of the Gospel; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Today we celebrate the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, when we remember Mary’s visit to her cousin Elizabeth and the joy of recognizing Christ’s presence even before his birth.

Join us for a quiet celebration of Holy Eucharist at 6 p.m. Private Confession will also be available in the church beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Father in heaven, by your grace the virgin mother of your incarnate Son was blessed in bearing him, but still more blessed in keeping your word: Grant us who honor the exaltation of her lowliness to follow the example of her devotion to your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Happy Feast of the Ascension!

Almighty God, whose blessed Son our Savior Jesus Christ ascended far above all heavens that he might fill all things: Mercifully give us faith to perceive that, according to his promise, he abides with his Church on earth, even to the end of the ages; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.
