SMM needs your assistance. This Saturday we are asking for volunteers to do some light landscaping work on our property.

Please feel free to come help anytime from 8 am to 4 pm. You can stay as little or as long as your schedule permits.

If you can, please bring a shovel, wheelbarrow or weed-eater.

Bagels and coffee will be provided in the morning and lunch provided at lunchtime.

Please let me know if you are able to help, so we have an accurate count for food.

Questions about the work project can be directed to Don Gerhardt or Rich Koch.

Thanks.

Walk-in blood donors are welcome today for our regularly scheduled Red Cross Blood Drive this afternoon.

If you have been interested in donating blood, this is a wonderful opportunity. A blood shortage continues in the KC Metro area.

Please consider this opportunity.

This is our last week to collect donations for Blessing Bags for the homeless.

We are collecting individually-wrapped hard candies. In addition we also need wrapped eating utensils you get with carryout.

Our plan is to assemble these Bags after service on April 3.

Thanks so much for your generosity.

Our Lenten project is full-steam ahead! Thanks for your generosity!!

Soon, we will be
able to assemble Blessing Bags to keep in our cars to have when we come upon a person without housing.

This week we are collecting individually-wrapped cough drops and or mints. Mints can be in a roll or a box, like tic tacs, as long as they are individually wrapped or packaged.

Blessings to you!

Our Lenten Project continues! We will be including a cup or can of fruit in our Blessing Bags for the homeless.

This week, we are collecting the fruit, it can be in the plastic cups where you peel off plastic or a pop-top can. Any fruit is fine, no Jell-O though please. We will need about 5 dozen in total.

Donation box is in narthex below TV screen.

Thanks so much!!!

This Sunday we are collecting canned meat, such as Vienna Sausages, for Blessing Bags. Blessing Bags will contain a variety of needed items for the homeless. You can keep them in your car to hand out when you see a homeless person.

Vienna sausages work well because you do not need a can opener, as they have a pop top, and you do not need utensils or to cook them. They are available at Dollar tree, 2 cans for a dollar. Target, WalMart, and Amazon sell them packaged in multiples as well at similar price points.

We need about 4 dozen cans at this time.

If someone wants to donate cash, that works too.

A few important messages and announcements from SMM:

Local TV Channel 41 local news visited our church campus and interviewed Dr. Sophia Khan, the founder for KC for Refugees today.

The interview was initiated by the unfortunate situation in Ukraine, and the very real possibility of more refugees in our world. Dr. Khan basically expressed her concern that even though KC for Refugees, which has been focused on Afghan refugees, it would be very challenging to meet additional refugees needs.

As you may recall, SMM made the decision to make the lower level space at the House of Grace available for storage for KC for Refugees. Thank you for your generosity.

Let us continue to pray for peace among all of God’s Creation.

-We will celebrate Ash Wednesday at the Church this coming Wednesday March 2nd at 7pm.

-Starting on Wednesday March 9th we will offer an on-line Lenten series "The Way of Love for Lent"
