East Shore Unitarian Church

East Shore Unitarian Church We practice love, explore spirituality, build community, and promote justice. All are welcome. We welcome you wherever you are on your journey.

We extend a special welcome to wailing babies and excited toddlers and octogenarians; We welcome you whether you can sing like Odetta, or just hum quietly to yourself; In this community, we believe that everyone can sing! We welcome you whether you believe in the teachings of Jesus, Muhammad, Krishna, the Buddha, Thich Nhat Han, Pema Chodron, Mary Oliver, Rachel Carson, Alice Walker, all of the ab

ove, or none of the above; Here, we practice theological diversity and inclusion; We welcome you especially if you identify as transgender, q***r, indigenous, multicultural, immigrant, and/or are an ally and co-conspirator in our journey towards dismantling systems of oppression; We are a welcoming congregation practicing radical hospitality! We welcome you tree huggers and water protectors and invite you to join our efforts to protect our precious environment; And we offer a very special welcome to those who could use a prayer right now in the shape of a kind and compassionate community; Come joyous, come grieving, come hopeful, come brokenhearted. Whether you have been coming here for decades, or you are visiting for the first time: Welcome/Bienvenides! May you find here room for your spirit to be refreshed and nourished; May you join us in creating, strengthening, and reimagining, the Beloved Community, our spiritual home.

Join Amanda, LeAnne, and RE volunteer leaders this Sunday for a service grounded in gratitude with our treasured rite-of-passage transition rituals for our children and youth. From the youngest who are ready to shift from the nursery to RE classes through those finishing High School and entering young adulthood with the Bridging of youth. It is also an opportunity to affirm the covenants we hold with our children and youth and the role of the congregation and faith community in their development.

Mother’s Day is more than a day for flowers and pancakes. It’s a time to highlight the aspects of motherhood that are not usually visible in the greeting card aisles. It’s a call to honor the resiliency of all those who mother, especially those who bear the brunt of hurtful policies or who are weighed down by stigma in our culture. It’s an opportunity to help create the conditions so that all families can thrive. After, stay for an Ice Cream Social!!! https://conta.cc/4u5z43W

Join our Earth and Climate Action Ministry this Sunday as we celebrate Earth Day and acknowledge our deep connection to the planet and each other through loving kindness. As UUs, we uphold the sacred bond between all of nature that surrounds us and moves through our lives, helping us to deepen that spiritual connection. Together, we envision a world in which reverence, gratitude, and care for the living Earth are central to the lives of all people. https://conta.cc/4ceZPfH

Where would we be without our volunteers? They teach, serve on the Board and various committees, care for the Memorial Garden and church grounds, provide pastoral care, nourish community partnerships, greet visitors, sing in the choir, support local shelters, make Seabeck happen, conduct outreach, make coffee, and so much more! When volunteers feel seen and valued, everyone feels more connected; the whole community benefits from this sense of belonging and shared purpose. It reminds us that we’re in this together! Join us this Sunday as we honor our volunteers! Rev. Dr. María Cristina Vlassidis Burgoa, Nicole Duff, and Jenny Newell will be leading. https://conta.cc/4mldVQ5
