Nestled in the Appalachian Mountains of North Central WV, Calvary Southern Baptist is only one of two Southern Baptist churches in our county of 16,000 individuals. The church is conveniently located near the town of Belington which has a population of approximately 1800 people. Our church is within walking distance of the local elementary and middle schools. We consider ourselves blessed to have a new pastor in 2013. We are going to work hard to win children through strong VBS programs, weekly Children's Church ministries and Sunday School in 2014. We strongly believe Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church and active in the affairs of His people , teaching our members to observe all things He has taught us through the Scriptures which are The Living Word of God, and evangelizing in our community, and then to the ends of the earth.

The Word of The Lord
Verse 19 is a powerful Word that is a good measuring rod about our maturity in our faith and walk with Jesus.
Spiritual pride and the ego sometimes jumps out in front of what Holy Spirit
Wants to say to us.
For example. This passage of Scripture. Reading it, and because I or someone else posted it or shares it verbally with you, right away, rather than permitting the Lord to speak to your heart you are only listening to yourself about your reply, because you are the wise one, or, have the deeper place in Christ and your own ego input shuts out what Holy Ghost wants to say. A carnal and spiritual pride defense mechanism to block reception of the engrafted Word, and put out opinion, or or something He has spoken years ago when the heart was more in tune and swifter to hear than to speak. Even the commentary here is read with how it can be manipulated or impart a greater wisdom rather than just simply listen.
Grade school taught us a valuable lesson with posters about crossing the street. STOP! LOOK! LISTEN.

James 1:16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

ATTENTION ::;: THE CITY OF PHILIPPI HAS VLOSED THE CITY POOL DUE TO AIR QUALITY.
OUR PICNIC WILL BE AT THE PAVILLION AT CALVARY SBC (Where VBS Happened of course)
Time will change to 3 PM.

Chattahoochee Baptist Church will be joining us this morning in Worship. We will be kicking off for the week ahead, with Sports Camp from 9-12 at the backside of the Fairgrounds near the ball fields.
Then VBS from 6 to 8 PM.
Construction will be happening during the day to fix and complete some things around the Church.
Join us this AM at 11 and come with the kids morning and evening and if you like doing construction come and pitch in.
This morning we have donuts. 😁
Most of all, May our God work among us and all things said and done be to glorify Him in Jesus name
