Psalm 30:1-12

Reading the psalms can be shocking because of the raw expression of pain and joy. Unfortunately, despair is part of everyone’s life. This Sunday, July 7th our lesson focuses on the need to approach God in prayer with a servant’s heart. 2 Samuel 7:18-29

Today we are going to listen in on a conversation David had with God about his future. David approaches his prayer to God, not as one king to another, but as the servant of the highest ruler of all.

David entered the Tent of Meeting and “sat before the Lord” (v. 18). This was a tent to house the Ark of the Covenant. The ark contained the stone tablets of the Ten Commandments, a pot of manna from the wilderness, and Aaron’s budding rod. The Israelites considered this tent set apart for religious use, as a holy place and most sacred.
