TRUTH IN GOD’S WORDA misunderstanding about the church of Christ is sometimes revealed in the statement, “You think that you are the only ones going to heaven.” In Matthew 16:18-19, Jesus promised, “upon this rock I will build my church,” “And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven,” referencing the gospel. Once the church was established in Acts 2, “the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved” (vs. 47). Those who were added to the church are described in Colossians 1:13, where God “hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.” At the end of time, Jesus “shall have delivered up the kingdom to God” (1 Corinthians 15:24). The church of Christ seeks to be that kingdom which shall be offered

TRUTH IN GOD’S WORD
A common misunderstanding about the church of Christ is
stated, “You believe in works salvation.” This is especially
applied to the commanded and exemplified issue of
baptism (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:3-4; 1 Peter
3:21; et al).
Yes, baptism is viewed as essentially necessary for
salvation, since this is the only way one can have sins
removed by the blood of Christ (Revelation 1:5; Acts
22:16). It is recognized as an act of obedience to Christ
(Hebrews 5:9). It is an obvious “work,” but whose “work?”
“[B]uried with Him in baptism, in which you also were
raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who
raised Him from the dead” (Colossians 2:12, NKJV). The
church of Christ absolutely believes in God’s work

TRUTH IN GOD’S WORD
“Memorial Day is a U.S. federal holiday observed on the
last Monday in May to mourn and honor military personnel
who died in service” (google.com). Citizens of the United
States owe thanks and remembrance to those who have
maintained and sacrificed for all of us in “the land of the
free and the home of the brave.”
“Remembrance” is found 53 times in the Bible. Sometimes
it is applied in a positive manner, sometimes negative.
First Corinthians 11:24-25 reveals that the observance of
the Lord’s Supper is observed “in remembrance” of the
One Who died on that old, rugged cross for all mankind.
For those who reject Godly faithful obedience, king
Solomon wrote, “For there is no remembrance of the wise
more than of the fool for ever” (Ecclesiastes 2:16)

“Fetal microchimerism (FMc) is the bidirectional exchange
of cells between a fetus and mother during pregnancy,
where a small number of fetal cells persist in maternal
blood and tissues for decades. These cells can migrate to
organs like the heart, brain, and liver, contributing to tissue
repair. They may also play roles in immune modulation,
influencing maternal health and auto-immune disorders”
(National Institutes of Health [.gov]). It is one thing to
consider the mother’s benefit to the baby, but here, the
baby’s benefit to the mother is realized!
On Sunday evening, May 17 at 6:30pm, David P. Everson
will deliver a lesson dealing with this complex issue. “Is
any thing too hard for the LORD?” (Genesis 18:14). You
are invited to attend this fascinating lesson.

TRUTH IN GOD’S WORD
Misunderstandings occur in many facets of life, including
religion. The misguided statement has been heard: “The
church of Christ doesn’t believe in music.” The inspired
Word of God must give the accurate answer to any
authorized worship practice, as Jesus said, “God is a Spirit:
and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in
truth” (John 4:24). All worship offerings must originate
from the heart, not from the hands (Acts 17:25).
Acapella (in the manner of a chapel) singing is found in
inspired New Testament instructions and in the recorded
early centuries of Christianity. Christians offered singing
“in your heart” (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16) unto
God. Churches of Christ believe in the same “music” today,
offering sacrifice of praise from our lips (Hebrews 13:15
