Today during our combined charge fifth Sunday service, we were able to recognize and celebrate some of our recent high school graduates. Remember no matter where you go, you always have this family in your corner.

“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭22‬:‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Today is another Sunday where we have to make a few choices on our worship decisions. Today is Pentecost Sunday, and it is also the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend here in the US. To top that off, it is also Aldersgate Day, where we remember John Wesley’s transformational experience that shaped our church heritage. We are going to start off by looking at Pentecost, and then we are going to dig into what may initially seem like an odd scripture reading for Pentecost Sunday. The scripture references for today are Numbers 11:24-30 & Acts 2:1-21.

Today is one of those Sundays that we have a bit of a choice in the lectionary on the direction that we can take. So today is what is known as Ascension Sunday, the Sunday where we remember Jesus’s Ascension into heaven after his time on earth, following the resurrection. Now Ascension Day was this past Thursday, the fortieth day after Easter. With that, today is also the seventh Sunday of Easter (and last Sunday in this Easter Season). So today, with all that we look at, we will still celebrate and observe the resurrection of Jesus Christ and all that this event still means for us even today. Specifically, today, we are going to look at our call to unity. A topic so important that Jesus taught about this before His arrest on that Holy Thursday so long ago. But sometimes, I think, unity doesn’t always mean what we think it does. The scripture references for today are Isaiah 45:1-7 & John 17:1-11.

Here we are on the Sixth Sunday of Easter (and also Mother’s Day). And today, we are still spending time celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ and all that this action, this event, still means for us even today. Specifically, today, we are going to look at our call to be a part of this abiding story that Jesus taught about before His arrest on that Holy Thursday so long ago. The scripture references for today are Psalm 66:8-20 & John 14:15-21.

Here we are on the fifth Sunday of Easter. We are still spending time celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ and all that this action, this event, still means for us even today. Specifically, today we are going to look at our call to follow this Risen Christ. To let Him be our example. To allow him to take the lead as we choose to continue the works here on earth that He started. The scripture references for today are 1 Peter 2:2-10 & John 14:1-14.

Here we are on the fourth Sunday of Easter. We are still spending time celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ and all that this action, this event, still means for us even today. Specifically, today, we are going to look at our call to listen to this Risen Christ. To let him be the shepherd and guide. To allow him to take the lead as we choose to follow (as sheep follow their shepherd). The scripture references for today are Psalm 100 & John 10:1-10.
