Behind the Love Your Neighbor Van are volunteers who show up week after week—not just to serve, but to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Through serving our neighbors experiencing homelessness, these volunteers have discovered that discipleship isn’t just something we learn; it’s something we live. In every conversation, every meal, every act of kindness, they are growing as disciples of Jesus Christ and sharing God’s love in tangible ways.

And the impact goes both ways. Our neighbors know that when they see the Love Your Neighbor Van, God is going to show up for them. They know they will be met with compassion, dignity, and love.

This is what it means to love your neighbor: showing up, meeting people where they are, and being the presence of Christ in our community.

For 100 years, the sanctuary at First United Methodist Church of Baton Rouge has been a place of worship, celebration, comfort, and community. Generations have gathered here to pray, sing, grieve, rejoice, and grow together in faith.

In celebration of 100 years in our historic sanctuary, you can help First United Methodist Church of Baton Rouge build something for the next 100 years! The Music Ministry is thrilled to announce an immersive week of music, drumming, art, and recreation at the First United Music Camp! This camp is for rising 1st-6th Graders (Fall of 2026) at FUMC. A $60 registration fee includes snacks, t-shirt, and activities. Please pack a lunch. Days will include singing, drumming, Orff ensemble (xylophones and glockenspiels), movement, art, and missions, all taught by specialists in each field from the LSU School of Music and Greater Baton Rouge Community.
