St James Episcopal Church

St James Episcopal Church St. Established in 1844 and in the same church at Convention and Fourth Street constructed in 1894, we may be in the same location, but St.

James Episcopal Church is a welcoming, downtown congregation with a mission to serve Christ through worship, fellowship, education, pastoral care, and outreach to all. James is a church on the move! It's a place to grow spiritually, a place to make new friends, a place to serve God with your own special talents. For over 150 years, St. James has continued its mission of service to members of the parish and the greater community of our neighborhood, the city and the world.

This week, the Bad Girls Book Club met at La Madeleine to enjoy a delicious dinner and discuss this month's book : I See You've Called In Dead by John Kennedy. Did you know the Bad Girls Book Club is open to all women of the congregation and meets every third Monday of the month to discuss timely books, enjoy an informal meal, and socialize? 📖📚

Want to join next month's book discussion? Get stared with July's reading: Magic Hour by Kristin Hannah.

During our Sunday service, Children's Chapel learned that sometimes we’re tempted to divide the world into “good guys” and “bad guys” like in the game they played “Who’s the Bad Guy?” But they learned that Jesus isn’t looking for that at all! He’s looking for the people that need help, and that’s everybody!

Although Sunday School is out for the summer, Children's Chapel is open to kids Pre-K-4 thru 5th Grade on Sundays!

Our Outreach Ministries kicked off summer with another well organized, Community Connections Sunday this past weekend. We are grateful for the large number of volunteers who helped make it possible for our neighbors in need to receive food bags, blood pressure screenings, and more. We'd like to spotlight a new volunteer, Samuel, who jumped right in to help and distribute food bags!

Last week, EfM gathered to hold one of their final meetings before the summer break! EfM is a four-year course of group study, worship, prayer, and reflection designed to prepare us to respond to our baptismal call to ministry to one another in Christ's name in the course of our daily lives. It is not a course in religion or theology, nor is it intended as preparation for ordination.
