Today, the Church celebrates the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, honoring the birth of the woman whom God chose to be the Mother of His Son.

Mary's birth marks the beginning of the fulfillment of God's promise of salvation. Through her faithful "yes" to God's will, she became the model of discipleship and the Mother of the Church.

As we celebrate her nativity, may we ask for the Blessed Virgin Mary's intercession, that we may grow in faith, humility, and trust in God's plan for our lives.

Our Lady, pray for us.

On Labor Day, we give thanks for the dignity of work. Whatever our work may be, we are called to approach it with purpose, integrity, and love, remembering that our work can be an offering to God.

May we find meaning in our daily work and strive to glorify God in all that we do.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” — Colossians 3:23

Did you know Mother Teresa visited the Diocese of Baton Rouge?

Mother Teresa visited Baton Rouge several times between 1985 and 1987 as she sought to establish the Missionaries of Charity in the city. At the request of Bishop Stanley J. Ott, she sent four religious sisters to open a house of ministry serving unwed mothers and their babies.

As we celebrate her feast day, we remember her example of loving and serving Christ in the poorest and most vulnerable among us.
