🏁 Today is race day! 🏁

Let's take a look at the women in racing:

Janet Guthrie β€” The Pioneer

She showed up before the world was ready. In 1977, Janet Guthrie became the first woman to race in the Indianapolis 500. She didn't just show up, she finished. A trailblazer who opened the door for every woman who followed. 🏁

β€”

Danica Patrick β€” The Record Breaker

In 2009, Danica Patrick finished 3rd at the Indianapolis 500 It's still the best finish ever recorded by a woman in the race's history. She didn't just compete, she led laps and changed what people believed was possible. πŸ”₯

β€”

Katherine Legge β€” Racing Right Now

Katherine Legge is set to be the only female driver in the 2026 Indy 500. Her entry comes exactly 50 years after Janet Guthrie became the first woman to attempt qualifying. The legacy continues. πŸ™Œ

Watch Katherine race today!

Before women were allowed in Gasoline Alley, one woman took the Indianapolis Motor Speedway all the way to court to change that.

In 1971, Mari McCloskey was just 25 years old and writing for Women's World magazine when she won a restraining order that made it illegal for Speedway officials to deny women the same access as men. She didn't ask. She didn't wait. She lawyered up and won.

Every woman who has ever set foot in those pits owes her a debt of gratitude. Drop a πŸ’ͺ if you think she deserves more recognition!

May in Indianapolis means one thing β€” race month. 🏁 The entire city comes alive with the roar of engines, the smell of race fuel, and over a century of history packed into one legendary track.

This month, we're celebrating the women who made Indy 500 history β€” the trailblazers, the fighters, and the champions who rarely get the recognition they deserve.

Meet Maude Yagle. πŸ†

In 1929, a woman owned the winning car at the Indianapolis 500 β€” and almost nobody knew it. Maude entered under the name "M.A. Yagle" to avoid the scrutiny of being a female owner in an all-male world. She was never allowed in the garage. Never allowed in the pits. So she managed her entire winning team from the grandstands β€” and still came out on top.

Her driver Ray Keech took the checkered flag. Her name stayed in the shadows.

Nearly 100 years later, Maude Yagle remains the only woman to ever own a winning Indianapolis 500 car. Most people have never heard her name.

It's time to change that. Share this post and help us give Maude the recognition she's always deserved. πŸ‘‡
