We are so grateful for the students and teachers from Avon High School’s Junior Day of Caring to help us get our memorial garden and other landscaping looking great as well as some much needed organization of a storage room. It was a great day of working together and building relationships with our neighbors!

Today as we continued our series “We Call Ourselves Disciples” we added another visible reminder of two important values of our tradition- unity and inclusion. ACC’s welcome statement is a visible reminder in our church to all who enter that we welcome and affirm all who enter our doors and that all are welcome at Christ’s table.

“For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. Indeed, the body does not consist of one member but of many.” -1 Corinthians 12:12-14

Dolly Parton’s faith guided her to serve and love her neighbors from her doorstep to the ends of the earth. Her music, compassion, and spirit of inclusion was an inspiration to so many. Rest in peace, Dolly. Well done, good and faithful servant.

Last Sunday we kicked off our new series “We Call Ourselves Disciples” as we journey through what it means to be a part of the branch of Christianity’s family tree called the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and how we live that out in our community and how it guides our faith journeys. Pastor Danielle shared about her experience with the Bible and the work of justice as a Week of Compassion and Disciples Home Missions intern in Nashville, TN back in 2011 following flooding in the area. Check out this throwback picture of her loaded up to lead a work site! Be sure to join us this Sunday morning as we continue our series!

Yesterday and today was the first day of school for some of our kids, with others starting over the next few weeks. This year’s backpack tags will help remind our kids that Jesus calls us to love our neighbors. Any pics of our tags in the wild? Share them in the comments below!
