At Hope Presbyterian Church we invite all to worship God by providing opportunities for people of all ages, cultures and experiences to express their faith through preaching the Word, celebrating the Sacraments, prayer, and praising God with music and other arts. We believe being a Christian is more than just Sunday morning, it is a lifestyle. We provide financial and/or volunteer support to more

than a dozen organizations providing critical services to our community. In addition, we also directly serve the community through English as a Second Language (ESL) classes each spring and fall.

Pentecost and Leadership Sunday in the same breath. 🔥

The Spirit doesn’t wait for a convenient moment. It shows up, claims people, and sends them out. Today we ordained and installed Ruling Elders and Deacons into their ministry. This is exactly what Pentecost looks like in practice.

Not just wind and fire, but people saying yes to a calling they didn’t manufacture on their own.

These are ordinary people who love God and love this community. They will serve, discern, care, and show up. That matters more than any title.

If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like when the Spirit moves in the present tense, look at a person who says yes when the community asks something of them.

We are grateful. And we are not finished yet.

Our dear friend, Elder Steve Walker, died early this morning. Please keep his spouse, Jamie, and their family and friends in your prayers.

God of compassion and love, you have breathed into us the breath of life. In our frailty we surrender all life to you from whom it came, trusting in your gracious promises and in the hope of the resurrection through Jesus the Christ our Lord. Amen.
