Doxology Youth Choir Pre-Tour Concert
Sunday, May 11 | 10:00 am – 11:00 am | Grace Hall

Join us for a special preview of the Doxology Youth Choir’s tour repertoire as they share the music they’ve been faithfully preparing. This is a wonderful opportunity to support our youth as they lift their voices in praise and represent our church through music.

All are welcome to attend and encourage these talented young musicians!

Palm tree t-shirt salute to South Carolina and the very cool residents of Brighton Retirement Community in Myrtle Beach. We loved singing for you, and thank you for lunch!

And as we're getting close to the end of our trip, a big thank-you also to the patient chaperones who made our trip possible: Paul Fletcher, Tracy Noble, Lisa Ramírez Ellinger, Jenny Gipson, Stephanie Husk, Nicole Duncan Lewis, Robin Hensley (also our accompanist), Stephanie Sherling, Lisa Beale, and Chris Mucha. Luau evening was another great experience together!

Day 4 of tour was one we won't forget. On our drive to Myrtle Beach, we stopped at Still Hopes Episcopal Retirement Community in Columbia. So honored to sing for them and humbled to meet and talk with them afterward. This generation has much to teach us.

We're still thinking about the words of the Music Associate later: "For those in our community with dementia and Alzheimer’s, you do an extraordinary ministry, because for them, one of the only ways of connecting is through music. And, while a person may not know his own name or recognize family members any longer, the familiar hymns become one of their last ways of connecting with the world."

Day 3 of tour. Can't believe we sang at the top of Chimney Rock State Park! Later at Lake Lure (where Dirty Dancing was filmed!), we perfected our own form. Not bad.

Our mountains-to-beaches tour in South Carolina is off to an amazing start for days 1 and 2! Loved our tour of Furman University. Buncombe Street UMC welcomed us to sing for them in worship. Woodlands Retirement Community opened its arms to us for a concert and conversation. And we capped it with a pool party at Mrs. Fletcher's daughter's place (thanks, Kristin & Matt!).

Christmas officially starts this weekend! Join us at The Great Tree Lighting at PRUMC - Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. All 200 of us (youth and children's choirs) will be singing! Followed by peppermint bark cookies, snickerdoodles, hot cocoa and more! Sunday, Dec. 2, 5:30 pm. See you there!
