Eastside Church

Eastside Church Creative. Historic. Justice Oriented. Inclusive. Eastside is a United Methodist church on the east side of metro Atlanta. Learn more at www.eastsideatl.org

United Methodist Church located in East Atlanta Village
Join us on our YouTube every Sunday morning at 10am! We gather every Sunday morning for worship at 10AM at 468 Moreland Ave in East Atlanta Village. We are a growing, resurrection movement of people living across metro Atlanta’s east side. We consist of new Christians, spiritual seekers, doubters, cradle Believers and many

who have felt ostracized by both traditional and contemporary, liberal and conservative forms of the Christian faith. At Eastside Church we believe everyone has a seat at the Table regardless of their political affiliation, race, gender, religious baggage, socioeconomic status, or where they happen to be on their journey with God. Our leadership embraces a progressive orthodoxy, a historic yet modern approach to worship, and the shared belief that we, in consonance with the earliest communities called Christian, are actually tasked to be a blessing to the world. Our vision is to continue growing as a movement of people who are striving to embrace and practice the way and teachings of Jesus Christ. We believe that as we walk this path of growth, we will continue to become a healthy, strong, vital church community graced by God with the power, agility and vitality to participate in bringing about God’s Kingdom of love, justice, grace and redemption here on the earth. Our mission is to continue the resurrection movement Jesus began 2000 years ago through our own personal and corporate embrace of resurrection. In doing so, we seek to partner with the Divine in ushering into this world the Good News Jesus came proclaiming – the news of a good kingdom with a good King – news that the Kingdom of God is here, and it is growing – and we get to participate.

This June, GBCS acknowledges the contributions and sacrifices of the LGBTQIA+ community in the pursuit of peace and justice nationally and globally. Pride Month was established in the United States to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City. The United Methodist Church’s Social Principles affirm that human sexuality is a gift grounded in love, care, and respect.

We encourage members and congregations of the church to take time to learn from and listen to members of the q***r community, to practice inclusivity, and to stand in solidarity against attacks on the LGBTQIA+ community—especially those targeting youth. We call for the protection of the rights and personhood of q***r and trans people within both the church and public policy.

Ways to engage: Join the LGBTQIA+ monthly working group (fourth Wednesday of every month at 5 p.m. ET), connect with your conference chapter of the Reconciling Ministries Network (RMN) for resources, and participate in advocacy efforts in your local community and state.

Contact [email protected] to join Church & Society's LGBTQIA+ monthly working group.

We celebrated Eastside’s 2nd confirmation class yesterday! 7 of our youth made the choice to join the church and 2 were baptized. During their confirmation retreat, they came together to write their collective statement of faith.

We are so honored and proud to know these incredible humans!

On this Maundy Thursday, we shared a meal, began to build garden beds for future gardening, & sorted through clothing donations for the ECHO Boutique! Grateful to all the folks who joined us.

Maundy Thursday invites us to remember Jesus’ last supper with his disciples—a night marked by love, service, and the call to care for one another. As we gather, we’ll share a community potluck and invite everyone to bring a dish to share, if you’re able. In the spirit of serving our neighbors, please also consider bringing canned or shelf‑stable food items to support ECHO. Together, let’s come to the table to celebrate community, generosity, and the love that leads us toward Easter.
