Call Directions Website

We are an independent Baptist Church located in the east Texas town of Athens. Here we focus on three things - Faith, Family and Friendship.

"Meet Me At Calvary" and see these grow in your life. - Pastor Kris As Baptists we believe that the Bible is our only rule of faith and practice. That the church is the organization Jesus commissioned to carry out the Commission to Disciple, Baptizes and Teach. Therefore we preach and teach God's Word directly from the God's Book using expository messages, in depth Bible Studies and hands on lessons for our children to bring the Bible alive. As independents we send our missionaries out from the local church with the co-operative support of other independent Baptist churches. We have no boards, no associations and bureaucracies and no overhead that outside agencies often bring. 100% of a missionary's support goes to the missionary. As Christian men, women and families we believe that God made the family to be the building block of all human institutions, especially the church and therefore we emphasis a strong family ministry. We enjoy fellowship and food because we know these build bonds and make for a strong and joyous church. Meet Me at Calvary and see for yourself what a church that focuses on Faith, Family and Fellowship is really like - Pastor Kris

These events in Revelation remind us that God’s perspective is not our perspective. He sees from Heaven, we see from earth. He has planned from eternity; we can only plan in terms of time. God’s perspective is eternal and omniscient therefore it is and always will be right. God is the overseer of time, history and eternity. He is not late, He is not lazy and He is not lacking in power to bring about His purpose. His plan may not be what I can understand, but ultimately that plan will result in my good even if that may only be fully understood once I stand on heaven’s shores.

I doubt you and I will have the honor of dying for Jesus but whatever God has planned for us remember it is His plan and our part is to accept it, rejoice that we are allowed to be part of that plan and then commit our lives to see it through.

Not all are called to die for Jesus Christ, but all are called to give up their lives to Jesus Christ. I pray we will all answer that call willingly and embrace it fully.

For us these interlude visions in Revelation 10 and 11, tell us that as God is watching over His people during the tribulation, He is also watching over us during the church age. These chapters sends the comforting, encouraging message, “Heaven’s power and promise is standing by for God’s people!”
