St John Lutheran Church If you are looking for a church home, welcome home! Welcome to St. John, a congregation of followers of Jesus who love the Lord and others!

Athens is a small, friendly town located in East Texas. Athens is about 1 hour 10 minutes Southeast of Dallas, TX and 45 minutes West of Tyler, TX, the home of the Azalea Trail. Athens is near 3 major lakes--Cedar Creek Reservoir, Lake Athens (home of the Texas Freshwater Fish Hatchery) and Lake Palestine. Athens claims to be the town where the original hamburger was born. There is an annual Old Fiddlers Reunion every May on the town square. The East Texas Arboretum has a newly dedicated Veterans Memorial.
