Today we acknowledge Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates freedom, resilience, and hope.

As followers of Jesus, we believe every person is created in the image of God and worthy of dignity, justice, and love. Juneteenth invites us to remember our history and continue pursuing the kind of reconciliation and renewal that reflects God's heart for all people.

We give thanks for the faith, courage, and contributions of Black Americans throughout our nation's history and today.

What a joy to celebrate baptisms together on Sunday!

We welcomed infant Logan Harman, and we celebrated the adult baptisms of David Riffel and Jennifer Gilliland as they publicly declared their faith in Christ.

One highlight of the morning was watching a video of David's baptism in Clear Creek the week before. The celebration even included cheers from passing tubers floating down the creek.

Baptism reminds us of God's grace, faithfulness, and the new life we have in Jesus.

Join us in praying for them as they continue their lives of faith!

What a great way to finish Fam Jam 2026!

On our final night, we studied the wise and foolish builders from Matthew 7 and learned that building our lives on Jesus means more than just hearing His words. It means trusting Him and obeying Him.

Families built Lego houses on sand and rock foundations to see what would happen when floods came, constructed marshmallow-and-noodle towers, created wooden house plaques featuring Joshua 24:15b, and celebrated kids who memorized Proverbs 3:5-8.

Thank you to all the families, volunteers, and leaders who made this week possible. We loved spending the week together as we splashed into God's Word!

What do you do when life feels stormy?

At Fam Jam last night, we explored the story of Jesus calming the storm in Mark 4:35-41 and learned that Jesus is powerful and we can trust Him when we're afraid.

Families reenacted the story with Jesus sleeping in the boat while the disciples panicked around him. We also built and tested boats, raced wet sponges in an over-under relay, and created calming sensory bottles to remind us that Jesus brings peace in the middle of life's storms.

Night two of Fam Jam brought the story of Naaman to life!

Families learned about Naaman's healing in 2 Kings 5 and discovered how God worked through an unexpected act of obedience. During our science experiment, we painted sponge people with "leprosy spots" and dunked them in muddy water to see how long it would take for the spots to disappear. We also enjoyed a relay race with ducks hidden in shaving cream, created door hanger crafts, worshiped together, and shared lots of laughs!

As we continue to Splash Into God's Word, we're learning that God's plans are always worth trusting, even when they aren't what we expect.

Fam Jam 2026 is off to a great start!

Tonight we explored the story of the Israelites crossing the Jordan River and discovered how God made a way when there seemed to be no way. Families shared a taco bar dinner, worshiped together, tackled a hands-on science challenge to see if they could hold back water like God held back the Jordan, played games, and decorated river rocks with words that remind them of God's faithfulness.

We're excited for the rest of the week as we continue to Splash Into God's Word together!

We are excited to officially welcome Rachel Brubaker as ACC's new Student Ministry Director!

On Sunday, we introduced Rachel during worship and prayed over her as members of the search committee gathered around her.

After the service, Rachel met students during a special Move Up Sunday celebration. Students enjoyed a waffle bar, played get-to-know-you games, welcomed incoming sixth graders, and began building the relationships that will shape the year ahead.

Please join us in praying for Rachel, our students, and the volunteers who invest in the next generation at ACC. We are grateful for what God is doing and excited for what is ahead.

On Sunday, we wrapped up our Sermon on the Mount series with a special Selah service, a time to pause, reflect, and consider what God has been teaching us over the last weeks.

Four members of our congregation shared powerful testimonies about what it looks like to be "salt and light" in everyday life, and Pastors Nicki and Jodi used bread with and without yeast to illustrate how God can use even small acts of faithfulness to make a difference.

Because this Selah service coincided with an All Church Sunday, kids joined us in worship as we celebrated what we've learned and looked ahead to how we can continue practicing the way of Jesus together.

Watch the service recording on our website: https://www.arvadacovenant.org/episode/sermon-on-the-mount-selah-sunday-05-31-26-pastor-nicki-nickerson--jodi-moore.
